I bought these weird shorts off Etsy that went over the underwear and saved the sheets. They were thick and probably hot but it’s wintery season so you might get away with it? I also used puppy pads for saving the mattress - just under the fitted sheet.
At what age do you think shoes are expected of children in indoor spaces? We tend to be pretty crunchy about bare feet and don’t worry about shoes unless we’re concerned about injury or cold, but Mo might be old enough where her barefooted ways are frowned upon in the library?
I once read that you should consider shoes once your child is regularly walking “in community.” Seemed like a p solid guideline
I think fall/winter turning one is the right time. Socks are okay if they aren’t walking.
I got the sockshoe things and it was perfect from age 1-2
How did you convince them to keep them on?
This is the real question! Mo might keep shoes on when she’s actively walking around but as soon as she sits they come off.
My mom put him in shoes he couldn’t get off, and he sat down, looked at them, and cried for awhile
That’s it! The Public are much more okay with babies barefoot if you occasionally try to out the shoes on with a resigned face.
The sock shoe things got better adherence though. And fit my values
US-based people: I had always thought that health insurance was supposed to cover your breast pump, always. Like, everyone gets a free breast pump. Is that too good to be true? Does it actually depend on your insurance, etc?
(And yes, my kid is almost 2 years old and I still have this bill from the pump manufacturer because I am terrible at admin stuff like that. For some reason today felt like the day to investigate)
Yes, it should be free. Some have a catalog, some give you a set amount of $$, some just literally hand you one and that’s your pump.
Good to know. What happened with me is that my insurance covered half of it. Like… huh? So I guess the place to start is ask the insurance.
I got a pump, I didn’t get to choose though. If I had paid for one it would have been better quality than what I got for “free” from insurance.
I was given a website to go to and pick one. Maybe I unknowingly picked a higher-end one.
What I’ve heard is that most insurers will give you a bunch of options, some are free and some you have to pay a little more out of pocket for. I have Kaiser so they gave me 2 options, period. But most of my friends had PPOs and were able to get some of the more expensive pumps like willow or Elvie partially subsidized.
This was my experience with a PPO.
I had a PPO. I bet I didn’t fully understand something at the time, like it was a question I didn’t know to ask.
If anyone is reading this in the future, Aeroflow is a website that will take your insurance info, check how much it covers, and only charge you the difference (if any). They submit all the paperwork for you.
That’s the site I used. It’s great
I used AdaptHealth for mine.
For Christmas: Tonie box or Yoto/Yoto mini? I like that the Yoto Mini is more travel-sized as cuckoo travels at least twice a year.
ETA: Cuckoo turned 2 in July.
