Pregnancy is weird

Also, my in laws weren’t in the picture for the first event, which would have further coloured things. So it was just my family who were okay with boobs out and not grabby with baby etc

So, I have family who I liked seeing at the hospital and family who I didn’t. The family I didn’t were much better behaved the second baby because we had trained them much better by that point and they were not permitted to hold baby (FIL and his side of family). I was also in hospital for 3 nights both times. First time I really wanted my mum there and was satisfied that we could call my MIL to show off my exciting new creation (we have a very good relationship, she is divorced from FIL). Second time I wanted my Firstborn to give him cuddles so my mum brought him around once I had my breath back a bit and the midwife had cleaned things up a little. I like having My People nearby though, and I would definitely have appreciated being able to tell everyone to Piss Off and them understanding they were just going to have to wait if I’d felt differently. I do not enjoy when FIL brings himself and entourage around…

29 1/2 weeks here. Baby looks good, but settled into a breech position, so it looks like another c-section is in my future*. Doctor is getting me onto the schedule for a scheduled c - but did say that we can easily cancel it if baby flips, and that she thinks I’m a good candidate for a VBAC if she does flip.

** Bicornuate uterus means that it’s less likely that this baby flips - my first never did once I hit 3rd trimester.

Tubal ligation

I also discussed with her the possibility of doing a tubal ligation if I have a c-section, and she thought that made sense since I’m taking most of the risk of the procedure anyway. Apparently there’s this (to me) weirdly paternalistic law in California that if you’re on Medicare you need to sign the consent form 30 days prior to the procedure but if you’re on other insurance it’s only 72 hours.

I hope that it is actually to protect patients

Summary

there is an ugly history of forced sterilization of poor, minority and disabled populations. With some lying about consent and or just not asking, later replaced with forcing “consent” after anesthesia or during a medical emergency

Thinking flippy thoughts for you!!

Summary

I think that’s the intention, but there’s something a little icky to me about the different waiting periods based on private vs govt insurance.

Good 6 week scan, there is a baby in there and it is just one, not two! Heartbeat is 111 and due date is 10/10, how lucky. We were given the option to either come back in two weeks or graduate and move on to the OB, so I’m glad we’ve been thinking about it already.

Ravi is 10/15! His due date was 10/26, I was hoping for Halloween, but he’s a Libra so he wasn’t waiting around for my quaint ideas

I was really hoping for 10/15/20 for Pipsqueak but I knew it was a stretch because I was only 38wk 2 days or something like that.

I feel like my body is kicking it into 1st tri gear again with symptoms. Nausea (I think from gas which I’m struggling to actually burp and constipation), insomnia due to hunger I can’t quite identify as hunger (I just feel generically awful), and an annoyingly frequent need to pee.

I barely got the nausea or increase in peeing in 1st tri, why now???

Goal today is to hydrate like crazy so maybe I won’t have to drink and pee so much tonight.

Super intense reflux lately. Doctor said a spoonful of acid (like vinegar) can help. I am so sick of tums so I figured why not. Face time’d my sis who is at a gay bar downtown so we could take a shot together. Surprisingly the apple cider vinegar is helping! Here’s to hoping it lasts more than an hour. My sis is definitely having more fun than me :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’m having a stupid anxiety about NIPT, fetal fraction and accuracy

So even though I got my NIPT results back, I never checked the detailed report until now. I had a pretty low fetal fraction, possibly due to my size, of only 3% at 12 weeks.

From what I’m seeing this makes the chances of the gender being wrong much higher, especially if predicted girl, because you are just looking for not finding boy DNA - absence of evidence for boy rather than evidence of presence for girl. And I’ve told everyone. And the chances of an undetected issue higher.

Also could the low fetal fraction mean something is wrong?

:grimacing:

Oh wow. I have been feeling bulky and out of breath and unable to find a comfortable position at all. Tonight I found myself a swimming pool and the weightlessness was amazing. I’ll have to make it a regular thing somehow.
