They brought me back for another check-up and ultrasound yesterday. Cervix length good, baby rolling around in there, and heartbeat good. I guess it’s just wait and see with the sch.
I’m very happy with the care I’m getting (they do ultrasounds basically every appt, though every other appointment is a phone appt, in addition to the 12 week NT scan and the 20 week anatomy scan), but every time I have to drive to East Hollywood for an appointment I wonder if I should’ve switched to a different insurance plan . Yesterday I left my house at 8:30 and didn’t get back until 11:30 and I’m rapidly running out of sick leave.
Is it overeager to contact ObGyn like, the day after testing pregnant? Or is the part of me that feels that way the part that thinks acknowledging things scares them off? That didn’t publicly share I had gotten a job until a week before my start date?
I’m simultaneously excited and planning my whole life in my head, and hyperaware how tenuous the first weeks are, even normally. I suspect this is normal.
I think it’s pretty normal, as long as you’re prepared for them to tell you to come see them in 8-9 weeks. The first time around I was kind of disappointed that they weren’t as excited as I was. But there’s nothing they can do until then really, except get you on the schedule.
Good idea esp now since so many are soooo booked out. Also feel free to mention your fertility history and ask for an early scan (like 7-8 weeks instead of waiting for 12), always worth a try.
Contact them! Scheduling appointments is a pain and the sooner they can get you “in the system” the better! My first appointment was a phone appt with a nurse taking history, ordering labs, etc, and then she schedules appointments for the next three months at that time.
The nurse is also a good point- it’s nice to have an appointment on the books in case you have questions in the meantime (can I take this med/should I be concerned about X symptom/Halp too much vomit/what have you)
Growing a human is a big task for the body! If I think about it that way, then needing to fuel & hydrate as if low-key hiking 24/7 makes a lot more sense. Hope all is smooth tomorrow and that your provider is great .
@LadyDuck your meds tend to be diff than ours but sure! It’ll give me something to ask about
@Bracken_Joy I’ve asked and gotten indeterminate answers like “stop if you can”. I plan to ask again tomorrow. I’ve also been wondering if this is a rebound effect because I’ve had it when I’ve forgotten to take it, or gone off on vacation (allergies seem to be CA specific and/or indoor specific to certain homes).
I’ve been thinking that it might be rebound especially since sinus symptoms have been fine! I’ll ask tomorrow if it makes sense to go back on half. I think it’s getting better.
So I knew this a possibility, but looked it up and holy crap. This exactly describes what it’s like, down to location (worst on hands, feet, and scalp spreading to body) and intensity (pins and needles, fire, unbearable) Pruritus after discontinuation of cetirizine - PMC
Fortunately, I seem to be past the worst of it with help from hydrocortisone and other topical agents, so at this point I’ll rough it out and never take Zyrtec again! I’ll try Allegra and Claritin when the desert winds return.
Oh geez. Now that my big work deadlines are over I’ve been trying to eat hearty but not greasy home-cooked food the past few weeks, to ward off hunger nausea.
Well, last night was really uncomfortable with bloating. I couldn’t sleep for more than a couple hours at a time. It’s been that way all week and I really don’t remember having stomach troubles this far along last time. Around 4am I thought I should research if foods like ginger, etc. help with bloating.
Guess what’s top of the list for foods to avoid? Brussels sprouts. We just had brussel sprouts, roasted sweet potato, and chicken for dinner and Spore kept feeding me extra brussels like it was a game. So are broccoli, beans, onions, and whole grains, which are fall/winter staples in this household and which I’ve been eating so much of all week!
I had ramen with eggs for dinner last night and feel a million times better. I know I was onto something with those frozen Jimmy Deans croissandwiches…
