Day 3: running errands and hanging out at home. Earlier in the day there were cute flat red sandals that went with this along with my yellow crossbody purse.

Day 4: Grocery run/ day at home. I wore silver rubber flipflops when I left the house because it was pouring rain and my other two waterproof shoes wouldn’t go with the dress (green Chelsea boots or hot pink pointy flats)

Day 6: I call this one “pretending I work in a NYC gallery.” Sleeveless cowl neck maxi bought for $8 at Ross and slouchy yellow cardigan off the clearance rack at Old Navy. The belt came from my sister’s decluttering. Shoes are black pumps from Payless (RIP).

@LadyDuck, I’m glad you are enjoying the photos! I worry sometimes that I am spamming this thread and that I might be better off posting all of this in my own journal.

As someone who does not really contribute to this thread, I appreciate your spam. The majority of my OOTD would be a t-shirt with my work’s logo on it and jeans and the jacket that lives on the back of my chair at work. Today is a black tshirt and cut of jean shorts because I’m working from home but still have to talk to people who are working on my house. Compared to that, your spam is much appreciated.

Great pattern on that shirt, are those ruffley things around the neckline?

Yes! I’m not usually into ruffles but I’ve had this shirt for ages, like literally there’s a photo of me wearing it with my husband like 11 years ago! I’m sort of curious how long it will last…maybe forever?

@meerkat, not gonna lie, not having anywhere to wear all these clothes to is a not insignificant factor on my “quit my job” seesaw. I love getting dressed up and actually feel better when I put in the time to look nice.

I can also point to my entire maternal half of the family who are always well put together and made that a bit of a family value growing up. My Gramps is dapper gentleman who at 90 years old still puts on pressed slacks or jeans and a jacket to travel on airplanes. My mom would carefully plan out her outfits, including earrings and coordinating sweaters, to go into chemotherapy. When asked about this, she said that cancer had stolen many things from her, but she would not let it take her grace and elegance. I find this way of thinking helpful when my RA acts up. I might feel like shit, but, by god, I will not look like shit. Its the little things that can help with feeling some control over a situation where I am usually agencyless.

@AmandaS1989 Dream status acquired. In an earlier life, the highest pinnacle of my ambition was to someday live in NYC in a fabulous loft apartment with too many plants and manage a gallery of interesting and Important works. I would be perpetually single, enjoying many and varied relationships within a closeknit and artistic, politically active community.

Instead I work in higher ed administration and there are cows in my backyard that I share with my husband of 6 years. Life likes to take us for a spin.

When I was really sick with my mystery health thing I found I dressed in a lot more colors than usual to keep my spirits up.
