BUTTS I MISSED IT.

No, you wouldn’t. Because yours would exude classiness, just like your current home, whereas theirs somehow emits a tackiness I can’t put my finger on.

I am making good progress! Trying to create a comprehensive list of my progress. Putting it behind a Summary arrow to save space.

Summary
  • :white_check_mark: The Claus Family (available 11/1): pretty cute but man, the timeline was confusing. Anyone else watch this and have an explanation? (Movie is in Dutch, I watched with subtitles)
  • :white_check_mark:Love Hard (available 11/5)
  • :white_check_mark:Father Christmas Is Back (available 11/7): It had John Cleese so I was hopeful but sadly I didn’t enjoy this one.
  • Christmas Flow (available 11/17)
  • :white_check_mark:The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star (available 11/18): Super impressed with those of you who have watched more than one princess switch movie!
  • :white_check_mark:Blown Away Christmas (available 11/19)
  • Waffles + Mochi’s Holiday Feast (available 11/23)
  • A Boy Called Christmas (available 11/24)
  • Robin Robin (available 11/24)
  • :white_check_mark:A Castle For Christmas (available 11/26): Enjoyable enough.
  • Elves (available 11/28)
  • :white_check_mark:Single All the Way (available 12/2): A fave so far!
  • :white_check_mark:The Great British Baking Show: Holidays , Season 4 (available 12/3)
  • Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas (available 12/3)
  • David and the Elves (available 12/6)
  • A California Christmas: City Lights (available 12/16)
  • Grumpy Christmas (available 12/22)
  • 1000 Miles From Christmas (available 12/24)
  • :white_check_mark:How To Ruin Christmas , Season 2: There were some heavy subjects but I really loved it. It takes place in South Africa. The clothing was fabulous.
  • A Naija Christmas (available TBA December)

Old ones I have watched this year:

  • Home for Christmas: takes place in Norway (so I watched with subtitles). I love it. Watched both seasons. I’m still thinking about how the main character sometimes travels unplowed streets with a kick sled. I really want to do that. Is that really a thing? Sad that although I live in a snowy climate, our streets are plowed such that a kick sled is not possible.
  • A California Christmas I didn’t realize I was watching the original one and the one on this year’s list is a sequel. Oops! Will I watch the sequel? TBD.
  • How to Ruin Christmas Season 1 (The Wedding): Apparently bride prices are still a thing in South Africa?!

Previously mentioned old ones:

  • The Holiday
  • Over Christmas
  • My Dad’s Christmas Date

Tried to watch something nobody else has watched yet, so went with Christmas Flow. Do not recommend! Three episodes, seems like it is dubbed from French. Premise is a journalist and a musician meet, hate each other and then fall in love (probably with some help from the magic of Christmas. Seems fine. Enemies to lovers isn’t my favorite romance trope, but I’ll survive.

Within the first five minutes the main character is being taken to court for inciting violence against women because of his misogynistic lyrics. So yeah noped right out of the rest of it because definitely not interested in a misogynist starts to see women as human after falling in love with a “strong woman” storyline. I don’t need that ever, but particularly not for Christmas.

That sounds like absolute shit.

Followed it up with a selection of titles from Disney+ My parents are going to be so confused when they look at their watch list

  • Santa Buddies - a pack of golden retriever puppies who are some relation to Air Bud find the true meaning of Christmas with some help from Santa Paws and Puppy Paws lol.
  • Ernest Saves Christmas - Made it about 7 minutes in and that was enough Ernest for a lifetime. Did you know that Ernest originally started out as a commercial and then got turned into a TV shows and then got some direct to video movies made and then finally ended up with 5 feature films. The late 80’s was a weird time.

Finished up the day with Blown Away Christmas. I concur a lot with @Oro’s review. There was definitely a mismatch between theme and contestants. I LOVE Alexander’s fish jar sculpture. I was also glad that the judges liked Nao’s ornament tree. I was afraid that they would hate the lips topper.

I watched Ernest saves Christmas a billion times as a child :joy: my family loved those movies. I have a STRONG feeling they would not hold up well.

So that one is off the list for everyone

FYI in case this info is useful to anyone. I hate watching anything dubbed and was able to change my settings on Netflix to show me everything in the original language with subtitles.

Sadly that hack won’t fix misogynistic plots.

I think it’s not actually the Christmas decorations that are bothering you, but the decor of the rooms they are being used in. All that heavy gold and red!

I think that they could still have done Christmas decorations in the ornate rooms. But maybe go…lighter? Fresher? Idk

Watched Love Hard and 8bit Christmas (HBO) last night. Love Hard was cute and I appreciated the hot guy’s response to the confession at the end. The sexy karaoke disaster felt unnecessary.

8bit Christmas was really great in a no romantic movie way. Very nostalgic kids caper movie. The ending got my husband and I right in the feels.

I think I’m doing California Christmas next? I know it’s a previous year one, but the sequel is on the list so I figured I better get to it.
