Tracking my progress. I’ve got to stop goofing around and get serious if I have hope of seeing all of these. Check-marks by the ones I have now completed.
The Claus Family
Love Hard :I thought it was cute but not particularly memorable.
Father Christmas Is Back
Christmas Flow
The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star
Blown Away Christmas
Waffles + Mochi’s Holiday Feast
A Boy Called Christmas
Robin Robin
A Castle For Christmas
Elves
Single All the Way – agree with everyone else here! I loved it! My absolute fave so far. Had to go back and slow-motion re-watch all the scenes with houseplants.
The Great British Baking Show: Holidays , Season 4-- I enjoyed. I agree with others-- I don’t like Matt and would love if they found a replacement for him next go-around. I still miss Mel and Sue, but I do have a soft spot for Noel.
it’s on peacock, not netflix, but i have been watching “baking it” and it is also a delight! maya rudolph and andy samberg are the hosts and the judging panel is all grannies
Ok so Princess Switch 3. What is Fiona wearing to clean the convent? Boilersuit with lace corset? Who thinks of these things? The accents are so much! Anytime there is a tango in movies like this I always think that the writers must have seen The Addams Family as children and now think a tango like that is the peak of sexiness. I should have seen that baker Vanessa Hudgens was going to have to get in on the action too. The Magic of Christmas was pretty over the top in this one. I think I liked Castle for Christmas better. I think. I can’t actually tell.
Also in addition to those two, we watched the RiffTrax versions of Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny, Christmas Circus with Whizzo the Clown, a bunch of Christmas shorts and Feeders 2. Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny and Whizzo are total classics in our house for just how off the walls they are.
For your viewing pleasure I present: The Christmas Tree, a demented look at how a British 1970’s family celebrates Christmas, from the viewpoint of a Christmas tree with a human face. It’s a wild ride. This is just the video without the RiffTrax commentary, but it is something to experience even without the jokes.
I eked out 5 pages of my paper and now my brain is mush. Too much Christmas Cheer, I think.
I’m watching Netflix’s Christmas With A Prince
“A dedicated pediatrician reconsiders her feelings for a carefree prince as he secretly recovers from a ski accident alongside her young patients”
It promises to be utter shite.
Edit to update:
This hospital - based movie was clearly filmed in an office building.
Next edit:
The country in which this takes place has an American-style health care system but also a monarchy. And the commoners have American accents and the prince has a generic English/ European accent. And the commoners went to high school with the prince.
Additional edit: The prince apparently never wears a shirt, and spends most of his time at the gym.
Further edit: apparently they are in the States, but the prince is from some generic other place.
None of the kids in the peds wards have families, apparently. Or maybe no visiting hours, ever? Or their parents are out working multiple jobs to pay for their health care?
Sometimes the prince wears a shirt.
More edit:
Someone gives a heartfelt apology every 30 seconds or so. Is this film Canadian?
Oh Jeez:
The huge plot twist was resolved in less than two minutes.
Conclusions:
I regret being sober while watching this. It would be awesome if I were high.
I watched Single All The Way with Marmalade and Seattle Friend. I thought it was cute and sweet but also slow and a little boring…
Now watching Holidate as I fold laundry and I don’t think it’s good. However there is one line where (for anyone who actually knows me in real life) I was like OH MY GOD and I had to go play it for Marmalade, because it was hilarious if you know my name.
I was dissapointed that Frank and Mrs Donatelli didn’t have an end credtis getting together scene in the Princess Switch - it seemed inevitable! I’m feeling vindicated.
I normally only watch Christmas horror movies but watched Love Hard and was pleasantly surprised (although I had low expectations based on past Netflix movies) so now I have to work my way through the rest of them (half a movie at a time due to toddler). Next up: Single all the way.
