Netflix 2021 Christmas challenge

That was great. A lot of it was hot nonsense.
I tried to put the song from the end credits here but that video clip isn’t on youtube yet. It will be, inevitably.
In lieu, here is an end credits song from another netflix movie.

Are you just leaving Randall everywhere for me? I approve.

I mean, I had already put this on my list to watch for the weekend after reading the gushing reviews previously but the comment about his house plants now makes it mandatory viewing for me!

He is a delight and I join you in this fandom.
When he begs to be my boyfriend I’ll insist that he jet over to Australia ever so often to tidy your house and cook for you and give you hugs. More if you ask nicely.

You understand my feelings for him perfectly. That would be excellent. I assume he’ll realise his feelings for you sometime in 2022.

ugh i love him and always be my maybe – honestly it might be my #1 romcom of all time?! it’s so funny and i don’t feel dirty when i watch it like all of the ones i used to love (sleepless in seattle, when harry met sally, etc. – these movies are so weird now!)

I finished the Glassblowing Netflix special!

Spoilers for the winner.

Summary

Overall I really liked it. Very entertaining xmas special! I was real sad for Alexander (AGAIN) and went into the final thinking I would be happy with either of them winning equally, but then realizing when Cat won that I actually wanted Nao to have won.
But it was good.
I thought the show struggled Hard with the whole CHRISTMAS thing when they kept asking for specifically holiday themed memories from ppl and like, half the competitors or more either were raised Jewish or, like Nao, just had really different holiday experiences from growing up in Japan. They really should have thought of that more carefully.

I suspect people who aren’t me have probably already seen this (from what my friend said it started with Hallmark movies so I think it’s been around for a while), but Christmas movie bingo that probably applies to a bunch of the Netflix movies too:

There are apparently many options…

I had not seen it, and I appreciate it vastly.

Just finished A Castle for Christmas, which I really liked. Loved the knitters, the accents were terrible, the VW bus was a little forced, the Duke was a jerk, but buying the castle the offering to let him live there was also a jerk move, the dog was adorable, and it definitely made me want to go on relaxing fall bike rides through the countryside. I’m in a peak end of semester stress, period hormone, I miss my dog emotional meltdown, but I cried like 5 times.

My question is what was the deal with the Italians who checked into the inn? I was all ready for them to be the 75% finished plot twist villains, but they just never showed up again? Or did I miss it while I was writing the 3 sentences of my paper that I got finished while watching this?

Also, somehow after finishing this N and I fell into a Celtic Punk rabbit hole and ended up finding this
(not sure why the preview isn’t popping up, but it’s three women covering the Dropkick Murphy’s Shipping Up to Boston into Metallica’s Enter Sandman on the bagpipes.)

Single all the way is winning

I expected them to be the ex wife and her upgraded title, coming to be villains, but yeah. Super weird

That’s what I thought too!

Or that it turned out that the couple that wanted to get married there that was referenced at the beginning of the movie turned out to be ex-husband and new wife and the Duke had forgotten there was a wedding scheduled for Christmas Eve when he said ok to the party (did he actually ever say ok to the party?) and then wedding people start showing up on Christmas eve and dun dun dun there’s ex-husband. But that is I think too much zaniness even for this movie.

Starting on GBBO Holidays right now. Hopefully Noel and Matt are less terrible than they were this most recent season. Ugh so terrible, not sure I can ever like GBBO like I used to.

Father Christmas got better as it went on, but is just a strange movie. Saved by the cast I think at the end of the day, but ehhh. Not my favorite.

They were SO BAD! I usually love Noel but he was really annoying. I mean to be fair the contestants with cheek and humor were whittled our so noel didn’t have a lot to work with. Matt was kind of an asshole entire tho? Weirdly xenophic jokes?

WTF GBBO who is this non-Noel elfin host man? Also panettone? Really? It takes a full day to make at the very least, but actually like 2-3 days. Don’t make things hard by making them shitty! Ugh.

Yes. What the hell were with Matt’s jokes. So shitty and not ok. It really soured me on the whole deal.

I slept through most of several movies on this list. Single all the way I rewound after a phone call

I completely agree with your thoughts about the Glassblowing special! I really loved Nao’s word search Christmas tree in particular and thought it was so crazy that the judges didn’t like the colors. I thought the colors were gorgeous. My current Christmas decorations have a lot of non-traditional colors and I like it that way.

Also, I really love Queer Eye and Bobby Berk, but he felt awkward to me in this host role. I’m still a bit confused by it. I never got a single whiff of awkward vibes from him on QE.
