Crystal Light is powder (hilariously, in little tubes. I feel like they expect me to snort it). Gatorade is liquid.
I can’t do champagne, even a little is insta-barf. We might have some white Bacardi? Definitely have vodka. I’ll try that.
Also, I killed my mint plant. How in fuck did I kill MINT?! (To be fair, it’s starting some wee new growth, so not completely dead. I thought it was getting enough rain on the porch but clearly not, I came out and the entire thing was brown and shriveled.)
My mint died this summer too. It’s been brutally hot and I think mint is going to have to be an indoor plant during the summer when I get the energy to try again.
That’s the thing, though, it has been weirdly not-hot here for August. Like, low 90s tops. More often, upper 80s. I was told it’d be way worse but I feel like mint should be able to survive that? Maybe not?
At any rate, it is not entirely dead as I see some tiny sprouts coming up. Unless those are weeds, which is possible. But definitely not usable at the moment.
It’s not just the heat though, you got to remember that the intensity of the sun is much more down south than it is up north.
It’s probably both root bound and the roots may have cooked from the sun if it is in a pot in full sun, which I assume. Mint does awesome but in a pot it does until it basically outgrows the pot. Pull the whole thing out of the pot and check if it is root bound. If it is, if you divide it it will be much happier and produce much better (and you can also get multiple plants out of it if you want)!
Yeah our mint gets scraggly and almost dead looking and comes back eventually. Maybe repotting would help.

I took my dogs to the same groomer that I have used for 5 years. They informed me that they now charge 65/small dog up from 40 but because mine are only 5lbs I can pay 55. They should have told me when I booked the appointment. I used to tip 20 but yesterday did 10.
Then a woman was advertising on Nextdoor she was looking for clients. So I asked the price and she said between 45-65. She said with a picture she can give a accurate estimate and description of behavior. So I send pictures and say Amy is perfect being a retired show dog but max was more difficult. Then she responds with she will have to groom them and then tell me the exact price. I then tell her I am paying 55 and looking for more reasonable and thanks anyway. Talk about a weird interaction. Ugh!!
The website I like to order coffee from raised their prices $1-$2 per bag. I did have a $10 off birthday reward though. This covered the shipping, which meant I could buy fewer bags rather than spending the $75 to qualify for free shipping, and also brought the per-bag price back down to what it was.
Have you thought about doing it on your own? There are tons of good resources out there, especially if one of your dogs is already on board with grooming.
Hm. Drinking Crystal Light with vodka and a little cherry liqueur. I have done this with regular homemade lemonade (literally lemon juice, sugar, and water, not from a mix) and enjoyed it. This isn’t terrible but I definitely taste the chemical/artificial flavor. I’ll drink it though!
My friend and I tried and we cut one dog’s ear, they also looked awful. Because they are small dogs I still had to pay for their anal gland to be released which is 20 each. If you do it wrong you can damage it. I also had to pay for nail clipping and for the hair to be pulled out of their ears or Maltese get ear infections. Yes fluffy little dogs are high maintenance

I have one too, I get it! We’ve been working on cooperative care stuff for awhile with the goal of eventually giving him haircuts ourselves, but we’re not there yet.
Dammit, I didn’t get to the mushrooms in time and they were moldy, I had to throw them out. I hate wasting food. And I had to pivot my dinner plan

How did I do? Impulsively bought Crumbl cookies based on a coworker’s recommendation and will never do it again. I don’t get the hype. Waaaaaay too much sugar and tbh not that good. I am spoiled by DH’s baking and I should’ve just had him make the snickerdoodles we meal planned for. Would’ve been free and tastier!
Other impulse spending was an unplanned trip to Target. I do much better when I go in there with a list or purpose but this time I was mostly trying to take an AC break on the way home from the library. Bad idea! I covered the cost with a giftcard, but that money would’ve been better spent on future toilet paper.
So not my best week but also not terrible. Another week, another chance to try to align my spending more closely to my values!

I am a disaster! Food spending is so high and we’ve been going out a bit more lately since my knee has gained stability (still not back to climbing or taking the train or real working out yet, grrr). Oh well! It’s hard to muster much emotion over money at the moment in part because things aren’t exactly dire or tight and also because I’ve had a lot of other things on my plate that have been larger in importance and far more dramatic.
I’m hosting on this weekend so weekly groceries this week are even higher than usual, but I…don’t care, haha. I’m looking forward to having people over and I’m also going out with a friend for lunch on a different day, so it will be a pricy weekend! Why do social engagements always congregate like that? I swear, I see no one for a month and then everyone wants to get together the same weekend.
