What if it were Florida Man?
Then all bets are off
When it was my job to enforce labour law there were certain parts of it that had no penalty for violating. Technically the law said not to do a thing, but if you did it no one on earth would come after you in any way.
Or both the employer and employee would collude to violate the law to their mutual benefit and nobody would report it and nobody got in trouble. Yeah, it’s law, but there are other things to worry about.
So I have a very laissez faire attitude towards certain types of illegal activity.
It’s clearly a legal loophole, since Florida Man is a demigod.
Is that David Tennant?
Yes. He plays the best villains.
Yes. He is absolutely terrifying in that role.
Yep. He’s a truly incredible villain in that show. Really a tremendous actor. I couldn’t make it too far in the show, he was pretty upsetting tbh. Although I wasn’t at my most stable when I tried the show, so it might be due for a second shot sometime.
The subsequent seasons are less intimate partner violence-ey. Just normal superhero violence, which I found much easier to watch.
Goes to figure. I almost made it all the way through the first season, too! Guess I should have stuck it out. Ty, that’s good to know.
After all the horror of S1 the moment when the villain got defeated was so, so satisfying. I wish every woman who has been stalked or terrorized could have that moment.
Now that I think about it more, the next seasons have dysfunctional relationship dynamics as well, but not the same as S1. I think partly the premise of the show is that statistically, the most likely villain in a woman’s life is her intimate partner. It is upsetting and reads as true.
As a palette cleanser, here’s Jessica Jones and Daredevil knitting. (Okay okay the actors rather than the characters, but I like to pretend this happened in a scene that got cut rather than while they were on break.)
This is delightful and I want someone to dream up the story arc where this happens.
