Meme-ing our way through

Surge had a booth at our county fair :joy:

I remember Surge! They made a giant --huge-- mountain of snow and painted it green on campus as part of a promotion way back in c.1995. I got a free can of the stuff during that promotion and was less than impressed. As I recall, it was similar to Mountain Dew but more so.

We definitely had white…and maybe a pastel pink existed?

I do not remember these at all!

The pastel pink was the favorite of one of my friends. I thought it was girly and we had a massive war over which was better.:joy:

“the trick is…” option 2 is exactly how i dated, mostly because i couldn’t help it😆

i feel like i’ve only recently grasped option 1 for the workplace.

Option 2 is why all my most successful relationships (most notably my marriage) are with people who have known me since childhood :joy:

Spouse and I were just discussing yesterday how I’m too weird for all the normal people but not quite weird enough for the weird people. It’s a hard place to be :joy:.

(This discussion was brought on by a brief encounter with someone we used to know. The dude was still not wearing shoes 15 years later and was taking his two adorable children home from preschool in a bakfiets. I told spouse I long to be the kind of person who just says F-it and carts my children around a city that’s not bike friendly in a bakfiets with no shoes on, but alas I’m not actually that person.)

When I first started going to kids birthday parties and talking to other parents I really struggled because for the last decade pretty much everybody I engaged with was an engineer - and we’re a pretty weird bunch. And I’ve been told at work that I’m extroverted, but had to correct the manager who said that, that I only seem extroverted because of the population here - in the “normal” world I’m pretty introverted.

Ha ha ha
The mum (spouse) of the local bakfiets dad (shoes, but probably does not want) and I were in swimming lessons together and I wish so much we’d shared numbers! All school year our kids were in various things so we assumed we’d see each other!

  • local longtail mum. But like a longtail bike AND we eat fast food and wear sunscreen
