As for Harry Styles, if the boy is gay- I have no idea why he thinks he needs a beard; because the whole world thinks he is gay and won’t say it. It seems the vast majority of people refuse to believe bi exists. It is just a confused stop before gay. Or a stop before the “It was just a phase, you’re actually straight”.

I think the beard thing might have been

1. more for PR than anything else

2. when he was in 1D, there’s a belief in the industry you need to keep it ambiguous to sell to teenage/preteen girls who think they can have a chance. It’s not uncommon for artists, especially ones in boy bands with short-term and tightly controlled careers, to have no choice in their beards.

3. Taylor swift has an audience that, at the time, absolutely believed she was their perfect republican country girl and would not have liked to know she was in a relationship with a super model

Yeah, I feel like we should respect that.

But also, he’s a celebrity, and gossip is fun.

I like during One Direction he’d answer the “what do you look for in a girl” questions with “why does it have to be a girl?” but then also, be dating girls; because interviewers pry. Like I remember Lance Bass answering the “what’s your favorite part of a girl” with “her stomach” and the whole rest of the band cracking up; because it was not OK that he could be gay in the press for a boy band.

Nick Carter was a Backstreet Boy. The blonde pretty boy one. Aaron Carter I know nothing about except he was the younger one and also released some music.

Aaron is the younger one! He wasn’t the one in BSB and he’s really been going through it publicly for awhile, drugs and mental health stuff.

I genuinely didn’t know he wasn’t out at least as a general “queer” because the parts of the internet I’m on, there seems to be an acceptance he is queer. But now i get why everyone gets mad about queer baiting. But also everyone got mad at Dan and Phil about queerbaiting but they just weren’t ready to come out publicly. They were never queerbaiting.

I think it is what Marcela said. He hasn’t said he isn’t queer. He hasn’t said he is. He hasn’t said he is straight, he hasn’t said he isn’t. He doesn’t think he needs a label and doesn’t want one. He doesn’t think straight is the default if you don’t say; there is no default I guess (there shouldn’t be!)
