Dear @CNBC, please let me know where I can live that rent is $825 per month, but I can make $100,000 two years out of college.

Also, how I can pay just $20 for internet.

I assume the house cleaning budget is low because they spend no money on entertainment, and therefore, only house clean. The $30 a month is for supplies.

Ehhh I lived in NYC with roommates making high 5 figures in my 20’s, and the rent, transportation, cell phone, and food spending is pretty accurate.

My food spending is $350-$375 a month and my rent is $520. :eyes: I like food OKAY! haha

Did you also spend on hobbies though? Or the gym? Or a streaming service/cable? Clothing? Grooming?
It’s very weird to me there is NO entertainment spending in there. I just find it so weird that “house cleaner” is in there, but absolutely nothing to indicate any sort of lifestyle expense. Or savings/retirement (since it says “good with money”).

This person’s food spending (when adding groceries and dining out together) is the same as my family of four; though my mortgage is higher.

I guess if they are splitting rent and internet the costs make more sense. And I do have googlefi, so that makes sense to me, but I could also go with family plan.

It’s honestly the “good with money” that gets me the most. Every other number is weird. The no other buckets is weird, but possible. But unless they are already FI, how is this good with money?

Well 2800 is only half of a 100k/yr take home after taxes.

Not including savings in monthly spending makes sense. And my retirement saving isn’t even in my spending/budget since it comes out of my paycheck…

Definitely not saying everything in the pie chart makes sense, just that the income and rent was possible for me. I wasn’t 2 years out of college, though, I had been working since I was 20. I’m also assuming that pie chart is based on predictable, every month expenses, not one-offs like clothing.

I didn’t really spend on hobbies/the gym/whatever counts as grooming, though. I would bundle cable into utilities, but who knows what they were thinking, because that’s still way higher than I ever paid for my portion.

Yeah individual numbers I can make sense of under a bunch of different contexts. It’s just the whole thing all put together is very confusing and incomplete.

At least it didn’t burn down half of California.

Edit: I’m pretty sure this isn’t meant to be any kind of commentary on trans people. But if it is offensive I can remove.

I know Canada is bad for internet costs. But $20? Even living with someone and split. I’m assuming utilities and rent are split.
I think my internet is $105 with tax (there are lower levels, but this barely meets our needs for WFH)

No competition here and it’s usually USD$80/month for mostly working-ish internet with two people WFH and sometimes Kiddo using his own device also. There’s lower levels here too but I shudder to consider what that would be like for us.

$75 a month for 6 mbps. This is why I sent money to Elon even though he’s evil.

Ours is $85 for just internet. There are some bundle with TV but it’s still live $60 per service.
