Related to “Can you hear me” is the “I think you froze.” Kiddo has learned to pretend to freeze when he’s on camera with relatives, except he is incapable of staying still so he’ll “freeze” while standing on one foot and wobbling slightly.
I was exhausted by this word in November 2018.
While doing a lot of painting recently we had the radio on and one of the commercials that cycled on every break was selling diamond jewelry and they chose to go with “this remarkable year”. As far as I can tell the original draft was probably “This year has been a dumpster fire, might as well say fuck it and treat yourself to overpriced jewelry.” but maybe that’s because I had to listen to the same commercial 829301823 times in just a few days.

I didn’t love the meme, but it at least seemed generous hearted and supportive of this lady who generously agreed to be the token face of vaccination and wore exactly what I think she should wear because she’s fucking wearing it

I’m pretty over picking apart people for what they wear, historical moment or not. And especially women. Why does she need to look a specific way to do this? Her outfit needs access to her bicep for functionality but that’s where the list ends.
When I first saw a photo of her I thought that her outfit makes her look approachable and normal, and the penguin might make kids feel more comfortable about the shot. I could see Bobbin if she were a little older asking to wear her penguin shirt to go to the doctor after seeing something like this. Given the scary/uncertain context around the vaccine I think that’s not a small thing to do.
