Lol came here to post the same one
Thank you so much I just posted this to a family chat where there are several Simpsons fans
I am a huge Stacey Abrams fan, but there is a message floating around on Facebook reminding people that there were several other BIPOC folk who were also instrumental in getting out the vote in Georgia.
Yes. 100% but hers was the voice loud enough to get the strategy coordinated across the state (and I think Wisconsin? too one of the cold northern states that went blue again).
A good strategy is useless though without a ground team that gets it done. This was a big life and many hands (disproportionately BIPOC) were the ones who made it happen.
Follow-up with her own tweets on some of the folks who made this happen:
Because you are right, @lhamo, it is easy to get swept up in the narrative of the one magical person who will save us all and ignore all the real hard work happening on many levels to put it all together. Thank you for making me consider how I talk about this.
How did I not know this!?!

Selena Montgomery is her pen name. Also writes thrillers apparently. A bunch of romance and other genre fiction authors have put together a fundraiser for the GA runoff elections called Romancing the Runoff with some really cool auction items up for grabs. Over 25k raised in I want to say 6 hours.
They seemed genuinely happy for me that thanks to my white dad my soul could be saved and were very sad for me that all of my ancestors would be in hell. The whole convo was just weird. They were very friendly while telling me all about it.
This was, 100%, what visiting the deep south of the US is like for me both times I have done so. I’ve never met friendlier, happier, more welcoming people who casually reference things like “gays burning in hell”. Quite the culture shock.
I’m really sorry you experienced that.
This one took me a second laughs
This is so stupid. But I laughed. Probably because the mental image of Biden in the White House is such a hopeful one.
And then of course, XKCD:
I’m proud I’ve retained enough of my French to laugh at that without needing the translation!
