March 2021 Book Club - The Haunting of Tram Car 015

I’m feeling like a novella this month.

  • Phoenix Extravagant, Yoon Ha Lee (this one is set during an occupation but as far as I can tell the violence isn’t graphic)
  • The Tea Master and the Detective, Aliette de Bodard
  • The Haunting of Tram Car 015, P. Djèlí Clark
  • Minor Mage, T. Kingfisher

I’m listening to the audio book and the story is very cool, definitely my genre but the person reading has this soothing accented voice that is making me drift off and daydream :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I liked the setting a lot but the ending was ‘meh’ for me, overall too straightforward without building up enough tension. A novella oughta be structured as either a long short story or a short novel but this one fell awkwardly in the middle.

I enjoyed this a lot! The setting was fabulous and I just really like the whole “supernatural police procedural” idea. I’ve put A Dead Djinn in Cairo on hold at the library.

I, alas, still have a hold on the ebook. :crosses fingers that it comes in soon:
