Let's speculate: what do you think a low or zero carbon society and economy would look like?

Particularly when Australia’s government is currently refusing to agree to targets. Also working in an industry that generates significant green house gases and uses natural gas as both an energy source and feedstock, there is almost no impetus to reduce emissions. There have been some programs where it was financially advantageous to reduce emissions - ie we made money installing pollution reduction equipment (NOx abatement system). But other than that it’s mostly reporting only.

I guess that is my issue. I have solar power, and can reduce waste, cut out plastic, reduce food miles, eat less meat. None of those are bad things to do but probably won’t move the dial in themselves?

I started working as an environmental professional in 2007 about the time Al
Gore was telling us all some inconvenient truths. I’m not sure much has changed since then.
