So the MMM forum has been having a lot of AI-induced outages the last few months. There was a bad one over the weekend. Our little community over here at OMD was mentioned as a possible landing pad for folks who might want to find a place to hang if/when that community ever disappears.

Feel free to check in here and let us know who you are (if you want to, especially if you are using a different handle then at The Other Place) and what you are interested in. A LOT of the activity on this forum happens on the journals, which have a long history, so it can be daunting to just jump in.

i hope there is a way to ensure the right-wing nutters over there either (1) dont find this place or (2) immediately feel unwelcome and leave.

iirc the journals aren’t immediately unlocked to new members, so most of the discussion is not obvious until you’ve reached additional trust levels.

You will probably discover quickly that while some of us do talk about finances and FIRE here, it is generally a much younger/more diverse in every sense crowd and there are proportionately way more discussions about cats, gardens, fashion and fanfic then at the other place. But hopefully you will find enough people with common interests to make it a place you enjoy returning to!
