Our nanny is sick, so I’m watching my toddler + a friend’s toddler at the friends’ house (we normally do a nanny share together). While they’re napping I’m working on a meal train for a friend who just had a baby, and coordinating with another parent friend who recently asked me for a favor. It feels so good to be parenting in community :sob:

I have a great marketing rebrand!

Sunscreen? NO WAY!
Face paint? HECK YES!

Use a makeup brush with the face sunscreen. Big win for the day lol

My toddler is in the typical mommy-clingy phase.

Well, tonight after bathtime I decided to put on a sheet mask while we went through the pj, story, settle down routine because why not?

Guess who ran STRAIGHT to dad and stayed there for MANY MINUTES? “That’s too scary!” :joy:

Small gold star for reducing my own annoyance about a small thing - Kiddo wears ear wings (the grey things in the picture) to help his glasses for better but they were always slipping out of place and constantly needed adjusting. I realized the teeny clear elastics keep them in place! No more constant adjustments and no more glasses sliding down his nose!

Made sun bread with Latte for the solstice. It involved multiple kneads and rises and I did NOT lose my shit on her during the process.

It’s even edible!

I just discovered Wonder books from the library. They’re books with a built-in audio book, so the kids just press play on this little thing attached to the book, and it cues them to turn pages. We got a Magic School-bus one and the audio narration is really good and both kids (5 and 2) are obsessed with it.

They’re like $60 for a book so not really affordable to buy, so I’m really grateful to get them from the library.

And you can’t leave the CD in your car, not that I did that every damn time when the boys were little .

Kiddo helped cook dinner!

On Monday I asked if he wanted to go with me to the grocery store and to my surprise he said yes. There are little recipe cards and he grabbed ones for green beans, kale (pesto), and a few other things. Tonight’s dinner was pesto pasta with green beans (and without kale cause I just cannot with kale).

He chose the pasta (half a box each of ziti and penne), stirred onions and garlic, stirred the chicken after I added it, added the green beans, taste tested the pasta to see if it was done, and grated up a small amount of parmesean.

Later this week I think I’m going to try having him help me with making pizza dough from scratch using our food processor, if anyone has a good recipe for it let me know.

Today I’m putting the baby in the bassinet for the start of all of her naps. I am not stressing or obsessing about how long she actually sleeps in there. That way lies madness (PPD).

A few years ago when it was flu shot time I made sure to book my appointment for when Kiddo could come with me. I don’t mind shots at all, but he held my hand and then we got treats after.

He still brings it up sometimes, like yesterday randomly, which is what reminded me to post it here.
