Is Perth the Portland of Australia?

Perth is more the Miami of Australia. Most people donā€™t really go there but those who do live there seem happy.
and the rest of the country ignores it.

I was just trying to slander Perth - not promote Miami. But no, Perth is not the Portland of Australia. The most hipstery city would have to be Melbourne. But without the ā€˜keep it weirdā€™ vibe Portland has. Some aspects of alternative lifestyle, remnant hippy, stoner type living is more associated with Nimbin and the Northern Rivers of NSW. But that isnā€™t really a city.

Iā€™m not sure this is how I would describe Miami.

Yeah, that is about the opposite of how I would describe Miami.

We donā€™t have enough hipsters to be Portland. Thatā€™s Melbourne.

Brisbane sucks :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

(I have no more creative insults, Iā€™ve never bothered to go there.)

Ah - well I have visited Perth and it is actually pretty lovely. Its a bit rich for me to be slinging insults because Iā€™d describe it as a smaller Brisbane. Smallish city, centered on a river. Compact CBD with suburbs sprawling out from that - progressively getting less nice. Economy more skewed towards mining than here though. But similar house price booms and cashed up bogan issues. Its been a few years though - I really do need to get back over that way and visit my companyā€™s sites in Kalgoorlie and Port Hedland. Not any time soon though!

I went for a lovely run along the Swan River, past the old brewery.

My lower tomato leaves are often turning yellow. I donā€™t think itā€™s early blight (I think it was once earlier in the summer but I neem oiled everything), because there arenā€™t brown spots until the whole branch starts dying. I think it might be a watering issue? But I have everything in 5 gallon pots in hot sun and if I donā€™t water them every day they start wilting. Iā€™ve been removing the affected branches but I guess Iā€™m wondering: 1) do I even need to it itā€™s not blight; 2) if Iā€™m overwatering and if so what to do instead.
Oh and so far it hasnā€™t affected any branches with fruit.

It could be a feeding issue? Plants will often mobilise nutrients from lower leaves and send them to new growth.

Managed to remember it was the last day of the lunar calendar for planting out flower seeds yesterday. Dodged rain showers and got two trays each of Alyssum and Red Gem Marigolds done. :+1:

You sure thatā€™s a zucchini? Looks like a gourd.

I just ordered sunflower and tomato seeds. Bring on spring!

Itā€™s only been 6 days and the Alyssum are up.

Hereā€™s hoping the Marigolds arenā€™t too far behind.

Something (I suspect squirrels) ate the greens off all my beet seedlings overnight.

We have now come to the season of ā€œgive your garden away to friends, neighbors, and strangers on the street.ā€

(ETA: not looking for advice on preserving.)

Baked parmesan tomatoes all the way! We have no problem finding ways to eat them. Thereā€™s just too much.

This is a method of preserving, not cooking.
