I’ve found my bullet journal! Now trying to piece together my weekend based on records from fitbit and strava and my fuzzy hangover memory. Like, I know I ran one errand over the weekend. I know a couple specific chunks where I watched tv. Thanks to fitbit/strava I know when I worked out. But what happened to the other 80% of my weekend? Did I literally just scroll through the internet the whole time? Like okay I know I did that a lot but still…
electrical !?!??!
My electrical system is doing something weird. A few hours ago it made bzzzz sounds for a few seconds at a time while the lights dimmed. Then when I tried to turn on the oven, it made the kitchen lights dim. Now I just heard two cracks when the AC started up. WHAT DO I DO!?!??!? Call an electrician??
I think you meant to put this in a different thread but yes to calling an electrician and I would also call my utiilty to see if they’re having surges in the area or anything weird.
LOL… Yes um I may not be fully calm. But I found a smoking surge protector. Can’t tell if that’s the cause or the effect so hoping no more fizzle-crack-fizzle-craxk
Yes’m please call.
Week 1 tally was interesting…
Sleep: 59.5
Work: 27.5
OMD/internets: 5.25
Chores: 2
Reading: 8.5
Cooking: 5.25
Eating: 6
Hygiene: 5.25
Getting ready: 1.25
Driving: 5.25
Appointments: 0.75
Cat: 0.25
Beach: 0.75
Exercise (walking and cycling, includes bike commuting): 3.5
Finances: 0.25
Volunteering: 2.25
TV: 13.75
Social: 2.25
Grocery shopping: 1.5
Unclassified: 11
Derby (Non-skating): 1.75
Community events: 5
Total: 168.75 (not sure how this is higher than 168 but I think I counted a few time slots when I was multi tasking)
Too much tv this week but it was only a 4 day work week due to a public holiday so maybe that’s why? Most other categories I’m quite pleased with but i might try harder to track better as i have no idea what i did in those 11 unclassified hours?? Also less driving, I’m upping my bike commuting this week plus have been away for work for a couple days. I should up my exercise in comparison to tv time this next week.
I have logged 7.5 hours this week to corona-virus related work decisions (cancelling events, changing travel tickets, emailing with cancelled gig people, calling insurance for cancelled events, notifying artists…)
Was also planning on adding a category for that. If I end up WFH or taking time off to stay with the kids the data will be skewed.
Totals for week 1 (note, rounded to the nearest estimated hour because my coloring is certainly not precise enough for even half-hour accuracy):
Lights out time: 64 hours vs an estimated 63. Good guess me!
Reading: 5 hours vs estimated 4 hours.
TV/video games: 13 hrs vs estimated 10 hours.
Friends/family: 14 hrs vs estimated 10 hours.
Exercise: 3 hrs vs estimated 1.5 hours
Gardening: 0 hrs vs an estimated 1 hour. I guess this is probably not a great thing to track when it’s still winter.
Focused work: 23 hrs vs estimated 20 hours.
Distracted work: 14 hrs vs estimated 20 hours. (I also did < 40 hours that first week)
Mindless entertainment: 7 hrs vs an estimated 10 hours.
I think my guesses were pretty good! Should have week 2 up in a few days.
New episode with the queen of time tracking!
I thought google sheets would give me statistics on my spreadsheets but apparently I don’t have enough numbers. And I keep getting sick so I haven’t had the wherewithal to add up my two weeks of spreadsheet tracking. Curious to see how much sleep there is, though.
I’m now tracking reading, writing work, playing with the wiggler, commute, getting ready, and chores in Toggl. (ATimeTracker turned out to not have a free version available.) I’ll try to report on that once I have a full week of data.
I was doing well at tracking my time until yesterday, when I felt glued to the internet reading about COVID-19. Today has been only marginally better.
And now that I won’t be teaching yoga for a couple of weeks at a minimum… well I can resume tracking again but these will be for very untypical weeks.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Maybe.
All right, last week was basically a wash for me between illness (not THAT one, just a stomach bug) and then insanity getting everything (work/volunteer activities/etc.) prepped/cancelled/postponed for THAT one, but finally getting around to reporting the week prior to that that I tracked anyway. It was interesting.
Sleep: predicted 57 hrs, actual 53 hrs (eh, good enough)
Life (meals, hygiene, etc, now combined with Cooking, Cleaning, and Errands because there was a lot of overlap and tracking them separately was annoying): predicted 7+2+3+3.5=15.5hrs, actual 11.5 hrs
Computer (undirected): predicted 10hrs, actual 16.5 hrs (okay, this is getting high, need to dial this back a little
Read: predicted 8.5 hrs, actual 15 hrs (not normal, lots of wait time in various places especially with one activity cancelled per below)
Write: predicted 3 hrs, actual 6.5 hrs (see above)
Work: predicated 22 hrs, actual 19.5 hrs (pretty good for a week I missed a day)
Meetings: predicted 16 hrs, actual 17 hrs (sigh, but most of them did need to happen)
Travel: predicted 3.5 hrs, actual 3 hrs
Social: predicted 28.5 hrs, actual 16.5 hrs (last major activity cancelled for COVID-19, a little surprised that they did it at that point but a good thing given what’s happened in the last week)
Exercise: predicted 4 hrs, actual 4.5 hrs
Volunteer: forgot this when I was doing predictions, but actual was 5 hrs
Depending on how the servers handle the load and whether I can actually work from home this coming week I might track work projects considerably closer (have to see if I can anonymize enough to post).
OK I’m going to track for this next week, even though I’m not teaching. I started tracking again today to get back into the habit.
Week 2 side gig tracking:
9.5 hours, made $205.06, for an hourly wage of $21.58.
The rest of the month should be interesting, as I’ll be spending a lot more time than expected on the side gig!
I fell completely off the wagon this week with covid panic, and decided to pick it back up tomorrow. My time probably looks something like:
Work: 54 hours
Read Coronavirus News and Tweet About it: 2,000,000 hours
-
I totally forgot to track how long I spent trapped under cats. I was using the stopwatch on my phone but it kept resetting to zero. I spent some quality time with the cats this week but I always want more cat snuggles.

This challenge is useful now that I have to balance working from home, I actually remembered to turn on my tracker shortly after I woke up this morning.
