29 pieces did not make the first round of cuts. Another 4 pieces have been moved to the sewing pile where they will hopefully be salvaged by finishing a hem here, reworking a dress into tops/skirts there…

This feels like good progress, especially considering I didnt do the big dump out the drawers and really sort through everything thing.

You can buy these stick on moleskin strips and attach them to the bothersome spot. I’ve used them for shoes that rubbed my heel wrong in the past, but there’s not reason to think it wouldn’t work on a troublesome bra.

Ahhh I HAVE those moleskin stick on strips! I can try this tomorrow THANK YOU.

One computer is backed up and fighting the reset. One computer is being backed up. I would like to move to the next stage which involves making a sale sign with markers and paper

Let’s say that I can’t reset a 6 year old desktop to sell or donate. Wtf do I do with it? I don’t have a burn barrel

We have an electronics recycling program. Look into that?

This says you still need to delete all information first for my programs… Hmmmm

ETA that if my files are recovered, then potential sensitive patient info could be recovered as well as my financial and identity and health information

Just pull the hard drive and bash it in with a hammer then. Problem solved.

I think this is recommended anyway, to some degree? And then the next person can install a new hard drive.

If you have a drill & bits capable of punching through metal, that’s the way us paranoid tech weirdos do it. Two or 3 holes through the drive and you’re set.

Or, if you’re as paranoid as a tech weirdo who used to work in the places I did, you can disassemble the drives, harvest the magnets, pull the plates, then melt them down in a crucible.

I have no drill. But I have a hammer. I will hammer the hard drive all over this land in the name of data freedom.

I decluttered a bunch of fallen gloves and stuff from the closet floor and both pool noodles

In a pinch, children with screwdrivers can do an amazing amount of damage to a spinning drive–we turn them loose on dead ones as part of a tear-apart outreach activity once or twice a year :grinning:

Got the ā€œpantryā€ sold! Also bought the top to the other cabinet we had- we’ll fit as much from the pantry in there as we can, and downsize or move the rest. This will allow me to move my desk, and then put the crib where my desk was. :raised_hands:

Did a ton of amazon returns. Some stuff from our registry was sized differently than expected (robe with sleeves that are too short on me, baby headband/bows that are child sized, etc), and some stuff I’d bought and didn’t fit. Also batched with a trip that involved another return from helping with the sound system at the wedding we went to this weekend. Got everything out!

Reached out to my brother and SIL. They closed on a house yesterday, and will be hosting Christmas this year. Asked if they wanted the gift wrap/tags/bags and some of the family decor that had ended up with us when we owned a house and hosted. They do! So that should be 2-3 tubs worth of stuff we can move out :raised_hands: woohoo!

I’m sorting all the bits and bobs from putting up our curtain rails out today. Hopefully it will also make it easier to install the remaining curtain rails.

I finished sorting the curtain stuff. Ponder cleared out the stuff from making our new computer. Our study has a floor again! I have a desk again!

Anyone else have that moment when you realise you don’t have 1 junk drawer, you have about 15?

This week I realised I have a junk house :sob:

I just have to vent. Every time I post an item to my local Buy Nothing Facebook group, instead of getting any takers, I get comments about how else I should be getting rid of the item.

Today’s example: my college yearbooks. I don’t want them. They’re in great shape, no signatures. I posted them in case some alumni might be on the group and want them. Instead I got someone telling me that I should return them to my college because the library might want them. Ugh! They are heavy so $ to ship, and my college is 3 hours away in a town I don’t intend to ever visit again so I’m not going to drop them off.

I got this a lot too when trying to unload unwanted pet items that the shelters here wouldn’t take for whatever reason. (Opened bags of dry food and scratching posts are generally no-go here.) ā€œDid you try your local shelters?ā€ ā€œCat shelters are SO in need and could really use this! You should take it there instead of posting about it here!ā€ Argh.

Why do people do this? I thought the group was for the purpose of obtaining and unloading items, not for telling people they’re disposing of unwanted stuff the wrong way.

That being said, I did find a taker for this hideous clipboard that belonged to my grandmother. It is covered with 70s-patterned contact paper, and yes, I know I could cover over it, but I really don’t need it. Turns out an artist I know is using them in art projects. Gone!
