What a badass human.
Got my bivalent booster and flu shot!
I needed it to happen today so Iāll be protected in time for my brotherās wedding in two weeks. I was nervous that the Walgreens I was going to wouldnāt have the new booster, so I made a backup appointment at Rite Aid. Glad Iām so paranoidā¦Walgreens canceled my appointment because the pharmacy was closed for the day due to an emergency.
I decided to go for one in each arm - the pharmacist gave me full choice. Weāll see how the side effects go. This is my first Pfizer shot, which is a lower dose than all the Moderna shots Iāve been getting. But combining it with the flu shot is kind of a wild card. Either way, my only plans for the weekend are to sit on the couch.
Also got my bivalent booster and flu shot - I need to be boosted for a work trip next month and it had been 9 months since the last one! I ended up with Moderna again because the local pharmacy does Moderna and I didnāt want to have to drive 45 minutes each way to get Pfizer. I think itās fine! I had both shots in one arm - the pharmacist said itās fine to do so (she asked what I preferred) and I prefer my dominant hand/arm to not be so sore! I did covid vax + flu vax last year in the same arm and it was fine then too.
Hooray for boosters! Fingers crossed side effects are on the mild end of the spectrum.
I got one in each arm and about 10-12 hours later felt pretty rotten. By end of the next day I was mostly ok, just fatigued.
I get flulike symptoms with all vaccines so there is something to be said about getting the badness over with all at once. Especially as I need shingles dose 2 soon as well.
Iām playing the is it covid, allergies, or other conference crud game ![]()
I spent many hours unmasked with people who had traveled from all over the country Tues-Thurs. (Old) booster shot 3.5 weeks ago. Two negative rapids so far (24 hrs apart).
Iām a bit congested, but maybe thatās just from returning to the bad air quality of my city? No other symptoms of noteā¦but thereās still time!
I now have a Schrodingerās cough (sometimes I want to cough? maybe itās in my head? Iām thinking about coughing which is making me want to cough?)
ā¦so Iām doing the responsible thing and having a second piece of cake in case I loose my taste ![]()
This is the way.
Wow! That is impressive.
Definitely felt achy and tired yesterday, but basically fine today other than a sore arm! Covid side only - flu arm is fine. Guess Pfizer really does have less side effects for me.
Pfizer has now joined Moderna in being approved for 6m-5y age group here in Australia.
You can only get it for āhigh riskā children. None for my baby ![]()
For my extreme vaccine reaction havers, how do you plan your shot timing? Due for a booster and past experience tells me I will be in bed for 3 days. Nbd when I wasnāt working, but now that Iām working close to full time itās more complicated. I essentially donāt have paid sick time. Mix of unpaid sick time and screwed up weekend?
My most recent one had me down and out for a much shorter period of time than all the others. I scheduled it for a Friday afternoon and then planned on being useless all weekend. I was only useless on Saturday.
Hereās hoping! That would be a great surprise.
I got it on friday evening and had a really unproductive saturday, and mildly unproductive Sunday. Was better by monday. I didnāt get a fever this last time but I did get lots of other side effects. Overall, way better than the last shots.
I get really annoyed at having to miss āmyā days, especially weekends, due to vaccine reactions, and even more so when they are required for my job, so I actually try to time it for work days when I donāt have something crucial going on. I do have PTO though
If I didnāt Iād probably try to do Thursday and be prepared to sacrifice my weekend.
Yayayay ok thrilled that my fellow very sick from vaccine-ers did well this round. ![]()

Also, try to get the Pfizer if you can. The dose is lower than the Moderna booster and anecdotally it seems like side effects are accordingly lower. I got Moderna for my first 3 shots and Pfizer for this one, and I was down for about half the time (day of the shot vs. day of the shot + the day after).
The new variant is an offshoot of the Omicron COVID-19 strain that caused a wave of infections from November last year to February and represented the virusās highest number of infections after vaccines became widely available.
Doctors from Tufts Medical Center Hospital and Boston Medical Center told NBC Boston that the new XBB strain, which spread rapidly in Southeast Asia, is extremely immune evasive and evidence suggests it might be immune to current vaccines.
Mad.
So-called ānightmareā COVID variant likely already in Mass., doctors say (msn.com)
Halloween is NEXT week, babe. We donāt need that scary stuff here yet
Iām tired of variants and would like to unsubscribe from this pandemic
