Apparently some assholes were going around with a bullhorn this morning yelling at people who were wearing masks outside.
It was 25F! People were wearing their masks because it was cold! My colleague who saw it was like, I know I don’t need to mask outside, it was just really cold.
Sometimes I keep it on if I’m going from train to bus or something, like it’s not worth the hassle to finagle it around glasses and earrings and now hats lol
My sister has been holding out my getting my 5 year old nephew vaccinated because he’s on the younger end of the allowed range and he’s pretty small for his age. I was really hoping the 2 to 5 trial would convince her to vaccinate him.
Damn, that’s super cheap! Is this online? We don’t really have Walmart in the city proper, and here 2-packs are running $25-ish. But there are still some in stores here and there, at least.
I think it was this current week that a testing location local to me opened offering the Binax test for free. They administer it, so it’s not like they’re handing them out, but I love having this in addition to the PCR option at the place I was usually going to. Because yes, I had been paying $25 for the Binax 2 packs!
This new test site is also offering a PCR test that tests for influenza A and B and Covid, but the drawback being that it’s expected to take several days for results. If I had any symptoms of illness, I would want the rapid test AND that combo PCR test, but knock on wood I have just been testing as a precaution if I’ve done something at the higher end of my risk threshold.
People STILL register surprise when I tell them I get tested 1 to 2 times a week depending on what activities I have been engaged in recently.
Theoretically insurance is supposed to start covering the at home tests in 2022 but I’ll believe it when I see it. I can’t imagine the process to get reimbursement will be anything but convoluted. Way nicer to just get it for free to begin with from a testing site.
So, we don’t have any holiday travel planned, but I do think that we are going to need to really weigh risk and maybe say no to some stuff we were considering - if only to do our best to remain negative for our upcoming move. Because THAT would fucking suck.
Like, there’s a New Year’s Day event I really wanted to go to, but it’s at a venue I’m not familiar with, and judging by photos the venue looks really small, and people will take off their masks to drink and UGH. I think we’re going to pass. Ditto for one last goth night in February unless things improve.
Ordered! Got 3 of them to get the free shipping. It just seems like a good idea to keep them on hand in case Boyfriend and I wake up feeling bad one day - and with Omicron getting worse I suspect it’ll soon be tougher to find tests in stores and online.
