And that sounds…about typical. WTF.
So I just about shit myself - I was hunting around under the kitchen sink for something and I turned my phone flashlight on and I must’ve bumped the wifi icon because this happened:
And I thought, OH SHIT, either the government is shutting down wifi because it’s overloaded, or RCN is. How in fuck do I work today?
Geez. Way to give me a heart attack before 8 a.m.
One of my big irrational fears right now is that something’s going to go wrong in our home - no Internet, appliance broken, no heat - and we’ll either have to let in repair people, or do without whatever it is. One of the stove burners is wonky right now and Boyfriend about had a heart attack over that last night, OMG WHAT IF WE CAN’T COOK
It means it’s always the previous owner’s fault and not yours if pieces are missing. I looked with desire at puzzles, but they are not an option at this point
There’s a strong possibility it will happen within 3 weeks. It will be ach for those that got their 2018 tax refund via ACH.
Talked with a congressional staffer about this today on background. Update coming via podcast soon.
@Smacky in the US, the tax part of the government doesn’t technically know about our checking accounts unless we tell them. So you have to opt into ACH. ACH is also very slow in the US - up to 10 days.
Re: your PT, it’s angering that he wouldn’t send you home workouts before because H’s org has a whole software platform where they can do just that. It has photos/videos of stuff and he makes custom programs & sends it to patients all the time. Unless there was a legal restriction that’s super annoying for him not to do. My state just relaxed some telemedicine laws so H can do remote PT stuff so maybe that was part of it?
Either way I’m glad so many positive things are happening for you!
Well he would only do it if I had an appointment scheduled but then cancelled it…not instead of coming in in person. He’s honestly the best PT I’ve had, just still part of a gigantic system. Also I think a lot of it is that I look so fine, even when people know know…they tend to not want to give me allowances. I think that might be part of it too? They even say it, like " oh right, I forgot you can’t xyz, you look great!" Kind of thing. It’s awkward.
The main takeaway here is I look great.
That’s annoying. H is so excited anytime a patient asks for more home exercises because he struggles with having tons of people that either (quite literally) come in demanding that he “massage” them or say things like “well why can’t I just take a pill for this?!??” or “Why didn’t you fix me last week? Why do I keep having to come back??”.
Anytime someone actually does their home program and sees improvement he is so excited for them. Plus having software that he can type exercise keywords into that then emails a patient a link to something with step by step instructions and video is too easy not to do in his eyes.
Better late than never!
I read about this last night and this right here fucking sucks, because I made money in 2018, and very little money in 2019, and my 2019 taxes are already filed and why not use that information, I could use a stimulus check right now since at this moment in time I have zero income. Two years ago was a long time ago. I am angry about this.
If you made money in 2018 the stimulus will based on that!
But it will be reduced, probably substantially because I made more than 75k gross, (unless that is net). And the last couple years I was working I shoved as much as possible in retirement accounts, and we know how well that’s going.
I feel like I shouldn’t complain, but like that’s almost an entire month of mortgage I wouldn’t have to draw down any account for.
Ah, I was thinking you were in the opposite case. I forgot that people make more than $75K. I was worried because in 2019 I had no tax liability, which means that I would only get half the amount at $600. If you made less than $2,500 earned income, you get $0.
Because I had some tax liability in 2018, I should get the full amount.
Not that it helps you, but the reasoning for the usage of 2018 is is that half of Americans haven’t filed their 2019 taxes yet, and the tax deadline has now been moved to July. So they’d be missing information for folks.
@CalBal Still waiting on details, but I think it is based on AGI - so if you had substantial pre-tax retirement, you might still qualify based on 2018 income.
Hm, if it is AGI and not flat out gross, I will be below the 75k figure sighted for sure. I maxed everything in 2018.
I think it is actually evil that they are restricting it for people with very low income. I understand where the argument is coming from (“well they didn’t pay any taxes!”, at least, I assume that is the argument?) but like, there is a reason they didn’t pay any taxes, and it probably does not have to do with them rolling around in Scrooge MacDuck-style vault full of gold coins.
Yeah I thought that too. Money for corporations but not for people who are on fixed income, the elderly who will be hit hard by this, the person who is caregiving, and so on.
It’s fucking bullshit. Especially for people like me that are small business owners. I had ~$36K gross income but $6,867 AGI due to legal business deductions, paying contractors for work, the health care deduction (which is a tax free pass through for people with it at their day jobs), and the saver’s credit - which is a tax credit meant to incentivize low-income people to save for retirement!
Did you have low enough income in 2019 that you didn’t have tax liability, @CalBal? In which case, you might want to hope for 2018.
I kind of don’t understand why $2,500 is the number they are using either. Like, I made $12k (ish? I think it was more, but I don’t know how much off the top of my head) last year and I had no tax liability, because of the standard deduction. Why $2,500?
Not sure, I’m doing research still. But I’ll try to talk about it on the episode of OMD that’s coming out extremely late today (I scrapped my original “meal planning” episode for Obvious Reasons.)
I think you might want to hope for 2018 AGI from taxes and not 2019 then… Because you’ll only get $600 if you made $12K in 2019 but probably $1200 based on 2018 AGI.
Yeah, best case, it’s based on AGI 2018 (=1200), next best, it’s somehow based on 2019 (=600), worst case, it’s based on gross 2018 (=0).
