Still, it seems like it would be pretty unlikely to spread apartment to apartment… I mean, there are cases of people in the same household avoiding infections from each other. Technically airborne doesn’t mean viably or virulently airborne, right? I feel like groceries exposure is far higher; no one respects your space and we’re all walking in each other’s breathing streams…
Yeah it really seems like we’re still nailing down some shit.
Also it sounds like masking up and making (brief and efficient) trips to the store once a week or once every two weeks is “relatively safe” on the whole. Not “safe” but also limited exposure to people as long as others are also following the rules. As much as bad things happen, we all still gotta eat. And if it’s not us shopping it’s someone else.
For sure! Didn’t mean to scare people. Just meant to suggest that groceries are far more exposure but we have all been doing it thru the pandemic. And it’s usually ok. 🤷
Yeah, we’re both science nerds and this is what I use to sanitize equipment for homebrewing.
It’s not on the official list of COVID killers, but if 15 seconds of contact with kill lactobacillus, acetobactor and acid tolerant yeast, I feel pretty good about it lol
Also, for those interested CDC has pushed out guidance on vaccines for HIV, underlying conditions, and GB history. Medscape, so I’ll repost images below. Spoilers for length. Hopefully they come in order
We knew it was coming, but it did it really have to be the middle of the country, no travel history? I mean, we knew all that was coming, too, but it could’ve been broken to us easy.
Got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. Other than a bit of soreness in the arm, I feel fine so far. There will be enough for ~200 million people in the US to get their first doses by June/July. And I see evidence of NYC gearing up for a mass vaccination program. Things will continue to be bad for the next few months, but I can see the end.
Yeah, the US hasn’t done much genomic surveillance so far. I too would be surprised if the UK variant (and other strains) weren’t already here.
Last week I was excited that someone I actually know got vaccinated. That made it seem more real (just as knowing someone with COVID can make the threat seem more real).
Then the next day I learned someone I know was eligible for the vaccine and declined it.
Update: male boss is positive but mild so far. Loss of taste and smell and really fatigued. Female boss and daughter who works with us both tested negative. We are closed until Monday and cancelled all in person appointments. I’ve been at work a bit (alone in the building) getting things out that were needed, but it’s going to be a few extra vacation days which is very welcome.
