Wealthsimple has a bunch of different accounts and things, one if which gives me 2.5% with no fees. The regular chequing gives I think 1% or something. Not promotional so I don’t have to chase rates.

Am I remembering correctly that the latest budget had something in it about financial institutions no longer being permitted to charge to transfer investments (specifically an RRSP)?
Did that end up passing? Or is it about to?
Not sure about the RRSP fees question, but the current budget did not complete the process before the Christmas break. It is still making its way through both houses. Well, it will keep making its way through both houses when they are back in session.

I have green grass and massive winds, with some light flakes coming down. I think it will get icy later when I venture out for yoga. Maybe.

We’re fine, as expected! A thin layer of ice with snow on top. Not great for walking but okay to shovel and go to the car. We revised plans to skip the aquarium
Eastern Ontario, by the St. Lawrence. Our power stayed on. We have skating rink conditions outdoors and now high, cold winds. It sucks but it coulda been worse.

I left Scotiabank a few years ago. They were pretty ugly about it. They tried to sell me investments that didn’t line up with my investing profile - I’m very conservative. They were trying to get me into high fee, back end load stuff.
The banker we have at the Royal gets it. He doesn’t like it, but he gets it. I’m sick and tired of paying more in fees than I get in returns. As Hubby says, we’re sick and tired of making other people rich.

I guess I’m really wondering, are the rest of the Bank CEO’s thinking it but not saying it? are any of them better than anyone else?
