My mum wants thick cotton socks. Polyester offends her and she doesn’t want wool. They also have to be calf height. Eddie Bauer, winners, and sport check don’t have what she wants. Before I would have gone to the bay but that’s gone. Any ideas?
Try greatsox? They are a toronto sock manufacturer. I am wearing seconds and hoping for a trade show to get more seconds. But I wear wool
Simons?
This one is 70% or 80% cotton.
I see 70% appearing in my own link but their webpage says: "Because you need socks you can count on every step of they way. Made to last.
Ribbed edge
Machine wash, lay flat to dry
80% Cotton / 17% Nylon / 3% Spandex"
Not sure if that’s sufficient cotton for your request and didn’t do an exhaustive seach on the site.
Did you already check Reitman’s?
Reitmans let me down but marks came through for me.
If cotton socks are so hard for me to find in my major city I imagine they don’t exist at all in my mum’s tiny town in rural BC. Maybe for her birthday I send her a lifetime supply of them.
As an older woman with cold feet, I think this is an excellent idea!
I find the preference for cotton baffling when wool exists.
And it was surprisingly difficult to find normal cotton socks. I thought most socks were cotton. Apparently I was not paying attention.
What do you use for effective socks, @PinkTutu?
I’ve got constantly cold feet, too, and I haven’t tried that many materials but I recently got a couple of pairs of bamboo socks for a really good price (like $8/pair or so). I think I’m going to get more of those.
Unless someone else with constantly cold feet has had more success with something else.
If I’m going for a walk outside in winter, it cotton against my feet to wick away the sweat, and wool on top that for warmth. Otherwise, in summer it’s cotton and in winter it’s wool…usually hand knit.
A day or two ago I really wanted the new budget to pass because the NDP and Greens are MIA and conservatives rechose PP.
But the way it is passing is hilarious and deposes PP - but then I’m also not worried about an election and am in even more need of a left wing party
The way PP has been handed everything and trashed it at every turn has been fun to watch.
If he had some ideas or capacity for diplomacy he could be leading Canada, but instead he is a small, angry man, obsessed with talking shit he can’t back up.
I’m really curious to see if the Liberals can poach two more MPs and get themselves a majority. We need OAS reform so badly.
A Conservative MP just announced his resignation.

An election seems unlikely. No one wants one and we would just end up with a liberal majority. I personally prefer minority governments.
Minority governments seem to get more done in Canada.
