Thank you! I’m a natural doodler and decided to lean into that, instead of forcing myself to learn how to paint all at once. I shall look for some microns!
Very artsy morning. My first attempt at watercoloring on top of a doodle. I like individual pieces even though I don’t love it as a whole.
I am loving the micron pens! Thanks @Oro. There have been many non-smeared doodles. Mini-triptych:
I’m pressing ferns from our yard for a botanical print, and I tried abstract embroidery with random supplies lying around:
This is all so great!!
reviving this thread for me and @LadyDuck to paint some flowers!
i worked on this one today and i like it but will probably do another one tomorrow…
YAY!!
Ooh I love the contrast of soft flowers to the leaves! I will post when I have done mine! Are you using watercolour and pen, or something else?
thanks and yep! watercolor and a dip pen with green ink and a tiny bit of gouache. im gonna do another one tomorrow to make the background a little bit darker so stuff pops more, and there’s a few stems i want to make more fluid, but overall im pleased with it. cant wait to see yours!
Here we go! I really liked the colour of the glass and enjoyed trying to get it right. I misread my pencil marks and had to add foliage, so that was also a nice little practice in fixing it up.
Yes! I haven’t been doing it but prompts would be
At the moment I’m just looking at the flowers thread and picking a nice arrangement.
oh i love this! the way you painted the petals and esp that little basil sprig are so lively and textural! i need to attempt to paint a clear vessel at some point – i’m a little intimidated by transparency!
Both fo yours are so pretty!
Just give it a go! It was really fun!
This is really pretty, LD!
Aw thanks!
MONTHLY ART PROMPT
OK! Challenge for the month! Do some spooky art and post it here! Do one piece or lots or half finish something!
I just found this thread. I am very impressed by the level of skill of makers on this thread!
I do all kinds of fibre art, as well as sketching, painting, nature journaling, etc. I tend to work in spurts. Sometimes doing one thing, and then another.
Here’s an embroidery I finished about five years ago.
This started as the Beginner Level project in Hardanger Embroidery for the Embroidery Association of Canada, and I didn’t like the design…so I heavily modified it. It was not balanced. I added goldwork, pearls, Swarovski crystal beads, extra motifs and filling stitches. I also added more complicated lines of stitching at the top of the piece, and added more lines of stitches than required.
I had a choice with this piece: I could either do it as designed and hate it, or do it in a fashion I liked and feel proud enough to hang it on my wall. To this day I have no certification from the EAC in embroidery, but do enjoy looking at this piece on my wall!
Here is a fun watercolour piece done during Sketchbook Revival 2022. I highly recommend Sketchbook Revival for people wating to try different types of art. It’s a free two week series of workshops - 2 video lessons a day emailed to you - with the options of taking what you want and leaving the rest. Instructors do put you on their mailing lists for future workshops that you pay for, but that’s not all bad…that’s how I became involved with nature journaling.
