Haha, as I was watching I was thinking “he looks like Meowkins type” lmk if you pick it up again.
Ok so I finished Flower of Evil- overall I recommend it but the pacing was really weird towards the end. It almost felt like they didn’t know it was going to be the last episode and had to wrap things up really fast. The rest was fun enough that I didn’t mind though.
Now I’m watching Little Women and it’s really good! It’s a thriller with political elements and conspiracies but also a family saga of sorts. So far I’m into it!
I started that too!
That’s gonan be my standard response now to all k dramas i think
Hahaha, you’re a starter!
I should have mentioned @Meowkins
CW for Little Women
There are some references to a younger sibling dying in Little Women but you never see anything happen. They make it seem like you will but you don’t- there is also a kid who is hospitalized but that ends up ok.
I NOW AM WATCHING k-DRAMAS CAN I SCREAM AT Y’ALL?
okay but like this k-drama relies on some pretty warped ideas of what is romantic in a male partner. Help I want to analyze but I need to finish like 10 more episodes.
Which one are you watching??
Currently watching This is my 19th life and King the Land, both which are still mid season on Netflix.
Though I will at least start watching almost anything that is a k drama at this point.
Business Proposal. It is on netflix!!!
I am watching King the Land which I kinda love
I liked Business Proposal! King the Land is promising. Both of these are the super cute overly romanticized K drama.
A slice of life romance drama that isn’t this super cute romanticized style is Something in the Rain. It is a little bit older (2018). This is actually the drama that got me hooked on Kdramas. I felt like it was the best story I had come across in a while when I first watched it. Also on Netflix.
I need like a Korean person who is also a media analysst to help me figure out what is Korean culture and what is just problematic k drama situations but like… the ideas of what is romantic is pretty… concerning
Like not listening when people say they don’t want to date you and asking over and over.
Contriving “payments” of kisses and time spent… under threats of financial ruin
also unrelated but also I love how everyone is in disguise by like…having a wig that looks like their hair but is slightly longer
eta: I am definitely aware that it is not Korean culture that people are falling all the time. But I am concerned about all these k-drama heroines who fall constantly
I loved business proposal! I recently finished Agency and it’s probably in my tops now. You would like it @anomalily.
Currently watching Summer Strike, am a fan. Summer strikes Main Dude is also the Main Dude of Misnaeng if anyone wants a blast from the past.
Also starting Bloodhounds.
And ofc watching SIREN!!!
Funny, I watched Bloodhounds and am starting Agency now. I liked Bloodhounds good enough but not in my favorite-of-all time list.
Also I can almost 100% say it’s not Korean culture, it’s just romance tropes. Lots of it is also in American romance. Yes it’s problematic but it’s also just fantasy.
Yep. Im not seeing the same tropes in korean manga that ive been reading. (Or like, theres a good variety of tropes and other things)
They are both very handsome so it is
BLOODHOUNDS WAS VERY GOOD.
Doom at your service has enlightened me to how handsome Inguk Seo is, so I’m watching that and also Cafe Minamdang.
Cafe Minamdang is soooooo good lol. Such a well done police procedural and comedy. Also just a good thriller/plot too??? and Inguk is a surprisingly versatile actor? In skill and also ability to be hot in all contexts apparently.
I have watched both of these! And liked them both.
It is very clear I have a K-drama addiction.
I also watched Hidden Love (c-drama) and really liked it… Saccharine sweet but well acted.
Who is watching queen of tears and wants to shout about it with me? I have, in fact, cried many tears
