A US Election Thread Where We Will Be Nice to One Another (but not to seditionists)

Wait. Has it been called??

Both races called for Dems by Dave Wasserman at Cook Political Report. He’s reliable.

Warnock started getting called by multiple outlets about an hour ago, Ossoff is starting to pick up steam. My Twitter is Exploding, y’all!

My news source hasn’t called it yet. 1 dem and 1 Republican at the moment.

Out here on the west coast it isn’t too late to already be in bed, well, maybe it is but I’m not. Either way, it’s being called for Warnock and it says Ossoff is in the lead with 98% of votes counted.

I never paid attention in history class… why does the US not have term limits for the senate and House?

Because our founding fathers didn’t put it in the Constitution and the Congress never agreed to it. President FDR won a third term and at that time Congress decided to pass the law limiting the president to just two terms. But there is no such limit for the House or Senate or the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court doesn’t have terms. Appointments are for life. That was deliberate, to give some continuity, and despite my present unhappiness, I’m not convinced it should be changed.

I went to bed. The New York Times has called the race for Warnock but not for Ossoff.

I bet there are going to be recounts, and I’m more than a little concerned what’s going to happen in Washington today with the protests. I’m sure Trump is going to have plenty to say about this, whether I want to hear it or not. I’m glad Warnock won and I hope the race is ultimately called for Ossoff as well but we could be in for an interesting ride.

I really, really wish Trump would concede and let the country start moving on, instead of stirring things up the way he has been.

I get to listen all day to my republican coworkers talking about how we all have to learn Chinese now, and the democrats are going to take all our property and redistribute it how they see fit so everyone can be ‘equal’. They’re also predicting we’ll all be in bread lines within the next six months and our tax rate will be 80%. How could people who are so ‘smart’ be this damn stupid?

Will it make it any easier if you gloat quietly, in your head, just for one day?

Not much. January 20th can’t come fast enough.

It’s not just continuity- it was also supposed to make them apolitical. (ahahahahahaha)
Because they did not have to worry about re-election, they did not have to worry about appeasing a particular party.

I am worried about today.
Not necessarily the election, but the likely violence.

I would like to return to a world where I follow politics, I get mad about somethings, but I am not so stressed I can’t work.

Yes, my previous political anger pales in comparison to “we absolutely MUST win this race or else lots of people are going to literally die and also it will end democracy as we know it.”

CNN is always the last to call, and they just called Warnock officially.
I imagine we’re going to have recounts and possibly lawsuits?

And, I can’t stand Pence, but MAN, he is going to find a horse’s head in his bed for telling Trump that he can’t overturn the election, isn’t he. Wouldn’t want to be him today.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, though.

McConnell?
I dunno, which is more evil? I’m leaning McConnell.

Eh, evilness isn’t a zero sum game. I’ll give it to both of them.

McConnell.

Pence is an enabling sycophant, but I feel like he hasn’t really “done” much. (He also has not done much to stop this insanity though.)

McConnell has been actively evil.
