It just gets worse every day…

It’s actually helpful when they so clearly show everyone who they are.

I mean, everywhere it sounds like it unfolded very smoothly, limited to no protests, and Biden is over 270 already. So I guess, it seems like democracy is ACTUALLY FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED in the greatest ~~ exporter of democracy ~~

Yeah is it like… for sure for sure? Either my reading comprehension is poor right now (likely), or the articles I’m trying to read aren’t explaining it well.

Yup, it’s set. Biden won. Trump lost every single appeal and Biden has 302 electoral votes.

And no way Hawaii is going to f go off the rails. They’re the sane ones. So it’ll be 306.

AMA: I AM DEEPLY UPSET ABOUT BUTTIGIEG FOR DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

OK, I’ll bite – why?

I’m relieved he wasn’t chosen as Ambassador to China, which is the other thing I heard he was being considered for.

Transpo people are VERY tired of transportation secretary being handed out as a political position - either a token to the other party, or to someone like Buttigieg who was promised a cabinet position.

Buttigieg has experience making some bike lanes in a mid-sized city in Indiana. 0 experience or record on transportation, transit, etc.

This is a position that requires industry experience more than ~~ political ~~ schmoozey skills. It’s also super duper critical as transportation is incredibly important part of economic recovery (and is bipartisan) and funding for transit is CRITICAL.

Two of the people shortlisted were women who have led multi-government transit agencies and one worked in Obama’s DOT. There were people up that would’ve been transit-focused fits.

could they not have given something that aligns with his experience as an army intelligence officer!?

I heard he was being considered for UN ambassador and something in defense.

So much same. That is NOT a good position for someone to earn their international politics scout badge right now lol. My assumption being he’s being groomed for future presidential runs, and they’re trying to get him enough experience to address people’s concerns with him?

I’ve been convinced it’s a better choice than I think it is.
Biden has an incredible emphasis on infrastructure. So DOT is going to be huge in that. I think Buttgieg is incredibly smart and listens to smart people. He’s a strong leader, and a really good speaker that get people on board with him. He also kicks Fox New’s butt every time he appears. I think he will run the department well and make way better decisions than anything Trump’s people did, and he will help clean up what they ruined.

But I’m still mad he’s not President, and I still blame Iowa for effing up and not getting his win right, which would have given him a lot of momentum he didn’t get.

But, I do kind of wonder if Kamala also doesn’t want him in a position that would make him super competitive against her run in the next cycle. (I mean, I like Kamala, I’m not saying it would be a petty decision…but it’s politics, right?)
