A US Election Thread Where We Will Be Nice to One Another (but not to seditionists)

I cleaned two of our bathrooms this week! Clearly we need to have stressful undecided elections more often…

What am I going to do after the election is decided and looking at the counts from all the remaining states every 15 minutes is no longer filling my days?

You can look at the recounts!

Is Nevada’s issue slow counting or because they have so many mailed ballots still outstanding? (I think they’re one of the Nov 12 deadline states, right?)

I read somewhere (not sure how valid) that they’re having nearly every ballot challenged by the… count observers, I’m blanking on words (running on insufficient sleep, clearly). So it’s taking even longer than it would/should, because then there’s some sort of additional protracted check on the ballot.

Again, insure on validty, curious if people have more valid info.

Thank goodness. Listening to NPR now. Been thinking of you all so hard, and will continue to do so… <3

Yup, barring huge recount errors in multiple states, looks like Biden is the President Elect.

So, what next? How does the Democratic Party keep middle America humming along happily? Cause I’m somewhat sure Trump will run in 2024, and the margins here were not huge…

Is it bad to hope he’s either no longer with us or in such ill health it won’t be an option? :grimacing::crossed_fingers: although I’m afraid we’ll see a nepotism baton pass to Son in law.

One thing at a time. Let’s worry about 2020 and 2021 first.

I can’t see that being quite as big of a problem. He’s nowhere near as popular. Ivanka could be though.

Or in prison…?

How it started: “We’re gonna be nice!”

How it ended: collectively hoping he dies or ends up in prison.

Though I guess the point was to be nice to each other.

My bad :grimacing::confused: sorry

I’m not being nice in my head.
I mean, I’m being nice to all of you but not to him. Or his family or pence or barr or any of his friends. They lost all goodwill when they put babies in cages and removed environmental protections and a million other horrible things.

I am so relieved!

I hope that Biden/Harris and whatever majority we have left is able to push through some economic changes that will benefit the people who have been left out of the growth of the last 30 years. Including:

  1. $15 minimum wage

  2. Universal pre-K, combined with support for education/high-wage job training for parents who want to get back into or improve their prospects in the workforce

  3. Some kind of public infrastructure rebuilding/solidifying program that will provide high wage employment – ideally some of this will be green economy stuff.

  4. Something to further shore-up the ACA and move us toward a public option – maybe something like a buy in to Medicare for those age 55 or 60 or older. I’d love to see something more robust, but I doubt we can get there until we flip more seats in the Senate and House in 2022

  5. Oh god --fix DACA and get those kids back to their families!

Not trying to be dark here, because Trump has nowhere near the personal loyalty Julius Caesar had among the military and commoners, but one of the biggest reasons he kept holding onto power is so he could retain immunity to the prosecution his political enemies kept threatening him with.

I’ve read that Don Jr will run in 2024. I hope it’s a joke.
