The democratic senator in Michigan is leading by about 5,000 votes. Out of over 5 million.

Oh! It flipped since I looked at lunchtime!!! Yay!

But yeah… he’s ahead by .2% lol I think he was down a few percent earlier, so it’s a good comeback.

I hadn’t seen that it was mostly mail in left, that’s great news!

Really? NPR is still showing it as leaning toward Biden but not officially called yet.

I’ve been on the site 270 to win. I’m not sure if it’s more accurate or less.

I was super focused at work yesterday because I was in airplane mode and I had some dumb projects to do.

But today I have the day off and I can’t focus on any of my non-work project.

How is it going at the local level though? I checked the senate and house seats and it’s all so close. Aren’t those even more important to pass legislations and make changes?

Every site is making their own call. This is typical even in normal election years, calling states before the “official” unofficial state election results, and then the actual official, certified election results come days after.

Yes, no matter who wins president, both houses of Congress are even more deadlocked than before.

Local level in my city was not my favorite (it’s wasn’t terrible but a lot of good stuff went) ever but we passed FREE UNIVERSAL PRESCHOOL IN MY COUNTY!! That means kids 2 ½ to 4 ½ years old will now have schooling/day care.

Still have 5 senate seats that haven’t been called and 44 house seats - we just don’t know, a Qanon conspiracy theorist was elected to Congress…

Also good news for me personally, as a person who is currently working on a grad degree in early intervention. More jobs!

Yay for universal daycare. That’s really great :+1:t6:. I also saw that California passed a law protecting Uber drivers and that was cool.

Guess the dead block of the houses means that it will be similar to Obama second term where he couldn’t get anything moving. If it’s the case that’s a shame!!

Today I did a lot of SQL queries and generated some reports. Thanks God those are automatic and easy for me. I had some data to analyze and didn’t have enough executive function and focus to get started.

For the first time since yesterday, I’m actually feeling hopeful that my candidate is going to win. https://www.cbsnews.com/election/2020/president/ This site has called WI and MI, and AZ and NV are likely to go to him, and that’s it. With those four, we’re at 270 and we don’t even need to worry about what happens with PA.

I went to bed certain it would not go this way… I’m afraid to hope, but I’m feeling hopeful despite myself!

I’m guessing we’re not going to get much more info out of AZ, NV, & PA today. Gonna try and withdraw from the doom-refreshing for the day.

Oh…that law didn’t really protect uber/lyft drivers. It just let drivers keep operating as independent contractors, meaning they have none of the protections of employment that are required in california. It’s a bit of a mixed bag - it means that they’ll still be drivers (and therefore rides and people with jobs) in areas where Uber/Lyft couldn’t really afford to have an employee stationed, but it also means these huge corporations get to keep using “independent contractor” as a cover for not providing any protections or benefits for drivers, a large portion of which drive full-time.
