Do people not say the t?

Apparently I don’t say the t.

We are now laughing about how I pronounce batman.

I was going to say that it only matters if you’re from Colorado

I think I should try to go to bed early. I can’t fight the feeling of total devastation, even if I try to tell myself it’s too early to say. It doesn’t feel good, I know that much. 2016 was so shocking that I told myself to be prepared for the worst this year. But apparently my heart still held secret hope and now I’m fragile and scared instead of prepared.

It’s midday Wednesday where I am right now and I can’t stop doomscrolling. I’m getting a sick feeling watching the Midwestern states all turn red. And the vote count in Pennsylvania, god damn.

I tuned out til 9pm, just dropped in a bit of coverage and I am really not happy about how local elections are going. None are awful just most of the people I know personally and campaigns I am friends with the managers lost.

Gonna go to bed wha wha. I have to be up at 5:30 anyway.

I hope you guys are hanging there. Really I wish I could say something positive and uplifting. But thinking of you and hoping for the best.

it’s gonna be a long day . It’s 8:00 am my time and I have to work. Maybe that’ll be distracting enough until my lunch break.

Same here. I’ve been refreshing the count all day, hoping for good news before today ends (for us Aussies) which would mean good news for the US folk to wake up to.

Yep.

Instead, everyone sensible has gone to bed and Trump has falsely and prematurely claimed victory and I thought this quote was amusing, if we like dark humour:

“We want the law to be used in a proper manner. So we’ll be going to the US Supreme Court.”

That is not an appropriate use of the time of the US Supreme Court.

Trump being Trump and no one was surprised.

The commenters on the Canadian news honestly tried to be chill about their preference for Biden. They tried so hard. Then Trumo gave that speech and they lost their shit and got utterly savage on him. I mean, it’s 3 am where they are broadcasting so filters aren’t at their best, but also they clearly hate him. As do most people in this country. Their evisceration of him was the best thing tonight.

I should mention that when they were destroying Trump they were being unfailingly polite the whole time. It’s a national trait, yo.

Indeed. Spoken like a true Canadian :joy: elsewhere it’s not obligatory to justify why or how Trump is destroyed.

Woah, Wisconsin shifting blue and a very narrow margin between the candidates.

Point me to clips of this? This sounds like something fun to watch.

I went to bed (with sleeping pill) expecting Florida to go red again, no clear results but probably Trump in the morning. So far that’s all correct.

ABC has a really great map, in that they are leaving the states too close to call grey, instead of giving a projection. And if you scroll down, there’s a handy breakdown of percentages.

Take home, there are lots of votes still to be counted. The theory has always been that early votes would favour T/P, with a shift towards Biden.

America doesn’t have an president elect yet. The only thing to do is let the votes be counted. This is the watching period, not the planning period.

That’s great. Soften the Florida blow. But I can’t believe PA is not blue yet :sob:
And looking at all that red in the middle of the US :sob: … I mean no offense to any republican here but I find it sad.

Same.
I managed to go to bed without once looking at anything election related. I am not pleased with what I woke up to.

Please keep in mind that most states have a week or more before results will be finalized (mine has a month!!). Not all states require mail in ballots to be collected by election day and some even give a little more time for oversees troops. And it takes time to process ballots regardless. (Of course I say this from under my rock where I plan to continue to live until at least Thursday). Please everyone, be safe out there.
