my friend with grip problems swore by something called a rubber strap wrench. there is a rubber loop that is adjustable that goes around the lid, and then you have a big handle to do the turning with your whole arm. and because the strap is hanging onto the lid, your grip strength is only put towards hanging onto the handle.
