I love that game!
I just finished the plot of expedition 33 and I was not prepared for the existential gut punch
I wanted to 100% some stuff and I can go back and do that but some of the simple joy might be gone
Okay gang.
I have played:
- Subnautica (LOVED)
- Subnautica Below Zero (LOVED)
- Planet Crafter (LOVED)
- Icaras (did not like, returned)
- No Man’s Sky (mixed feelings)
Are there any games of this type I should try? I wish I could play one of the Subnauitca games again for the first time.
Mr. Meer recommends:
Abiotic factor, grounded, enshrouded, v rising
tyty! I will look into these
Outer wilds? Though very not collecty buildy more the explore bit.
Just popping in to share that Slay the Spire II is an incredible deck builder and has co-op! If anyone wants to play let me know.
my roommates have been playing Brotato regularly for about a month now. it’s silly fun, doesn’t require pushing buttons while you’re in active gameplay and focuses on builds & achievements. you choose a potato character and run around avoiding being hit by alien monster guys
Have played all these! MvR and I really liked playing Grounded as a 2 player cooperative, same with Enshrouded.
We played V-Rising with a larger group, and it was nice to have some seriously good players around for a few of the tougher bosses.
MvR and I haven’t reached the end of ANY of these, but some in our gamer group have beat Enshrouded and V-Rising.
That is also, I think, the order of cuteness for those that care.
Grounded > Enshrouded > V-Rising
But overall a nice set of fun, nice-looking “survival-ish” games.
I personally like Valheim more than any of these with the caveat that the graphics engine is decidedly lower-resolution and sometimes lower performing, but the actual gameplay for me is probably the most replayable and has a very, very satisfying progression.
This is so important to me thank you!!!
I think we have talked about some of these before but I don’t play coop with anyone. Do you think that will make things less fun?
I haven’t tried them solo, so I have no idea ![]()
I suspect they are all a little bit harder solo, but you may enjoy that challenge!!
Enshrouded seems like it wouldn’t be much different solo, but I didn’t get to the late game stuff.
Grounded is fine solo, the big perk for me of playing with Mr. Meer is he knows where everything is because he played it solo already and did most of the game already. But the internet can also provide you with that information.
Mr. Meer also plays a lot of Valheim.
You can totally play V Rising solo but you will probably want to tweak settings. Every game instance is a server you could invite people to but don’t have to. Some of the endgame bosses might be annoying solo? I was playing with 1 other person most of the time.
My favorite part was the castle building & horse taming mechanics. (It’s not as open build as the Sims but it’s still pretty fun once you get the hang of it)
OKAY.
I’m getting Enshrouded since it’s 20% off sale right now.
V Rising is on my wishlist! ![]()
Thank you all!!

If Enshrouded fails my gut test within the return window, I’ll do Valheim.
