The Not Pregnant...Yet Thread

Yeah, I have some things that are often PCOS symptoms, such as more hair on my chin than expected, and more recently some hair loss.

The thing that freaks me out is that the levels are higher than even like the “women with PCOS will have above x” and I’m like uhhhh so clearly I have a tumor.

Also DHEA is supposed to contribute to sex drive. WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SEX DRIVE?

What is even going on here? :woman_facepalming:

I’m very confused. No positive OPK this month, which is whatever. But also definitely got EWCM last night and this afternoon. But my temps definitely look like I ovulated somewhere between 1 and 3 days ago. What the fuck?

I would like to have a beer with my pizza tonight but for the first time ever in my life I had unprotected sex in my ovulation window. So I guess I…don’t do that?

I have always been “team drink till it’s pink.”* Maybe don’t have 4 beers. 1 is probably fine but of course opinions on this vary.

*Except after IVF transfers.

You can drink. It will be fine, I promise.

Yeah! Obvs your body so you get to make the call, but my doctor said the same thing after my IUI: live your normal life until you get a positive. Have you seen Expecting Better? There’s a chapter about this, and the state of the research is basically, don’t go on a bender, probably

But Yayayya officially starting to try!

This is all very good to know!

I took out my IUD in November and had post IUD bleeding, but now am at CD 41 with no sign of cervical mucus or bleeding.

I think it is my PCOS showing and high insulin levels. Just went back on Metformin in December but haven’t been great about remembering to take it every day.

Hi and welcome! I’m sitting here at CD 32 with nothing. Just to say, I’m with you, it sucks. :pensive: 11 days late, probably skipping the whole month, despite taking my metformin. (… and we made a good effort this month, too!) I did accidentally halve my dose of inositol when I switched brands for travel, and just realized it like a week ago, so I wonder if that actually helps me more than the metformin… Not saying you should try it but AMA if interested haha.

But also hang in there and good luck, fellow PCOSer

Our consultation and initial testing are scheduled for 1/17! I’ll get my AMH tested and an ultrasound, and Swan will get the SA to see what he’s working with.

And I am stunned by the generosity of folks in donating to my GoFundMe—we’re already 10% there! Anything that we don’t raise that way, I’m going to apply for the interest-free loan and see if we get it. I’m just overcome with gratitude that people support our journey. :sob:

I keep having pregnancy dreams. One was that I found myself pregnant and had to Venmo everyone back their donations. Another was that I had to go immediately from an ultrasound (where I actually got to see a baby instead of an ill-fated bean) into a helicopter to go to the beach with my aunt, except I kept seeming to be at risk of falling out of the helicopter.

If I did turn up pregnant this week before the IVF treatments started, it would be both a miracle and ironic, and also the baby would have to be one tough critter because I definitely ate and drank everything in the world while the egg was maturing, and I slept on an airport floor, and then they would probably have been conceived from sex in SLC on an accidental three-day layover. I don’t think it’s terribly likely, but it would be a much funnier story than usual.

Today I learned that I at least have the hormone profile of someone with PCOS. I was kind of surprised, because my ovulation pretty reliably happens and I don’t have long cycles, though when exactly I’m going to ovulate has been a mystery to me.

Regardless, my low progesterone and high DHEA could prevent me from getting pregnant, so I get to go on progesterone and some drug that will make me shit myself. Yaaay.

If it helps, all the bio hackers really want to ge on metformin for life extension. Just tell yourself that tech bros are jealous, that might help :joy: (sorry if that’s unhelpful, I can remove the being flippant humor)

I think it’s something that starts with a g though? I don’t remember metformin.

“ Metformin has the most data supporting its effectiveness. Rosiglitazone and pioglitazone are also effective for ameliorating hirsutism and insulin resistance. Metformin and clomiphene, alone or in combination, are first-line agents for ovulation induction. Insulin-sensitizing agents, oral contraceptives, spironolactone, and topical eflornithine can be used in patients with hirsutism.” Any of those sound familiar?

Dude I’m definitely gonna need to stop putting off getting a pill case. Because I have the memory of a goldfish, and when I’m taking my pills at the cabinet I’ll stop and be like “wait, did I already take my allergy pill five seconds ago or nah?”

Let’s count our pills!

Summary
  1. The stomachache Gblahblahblah drug, 3x a day
  2. Progesterone
  3. Prozac
  4. Vitamin C
  5. Vitamin D
  6. Fish Oil
  7. Allergy pill
  8. Prenatal

I guess maybe I’m glad I ditched extra B12, E and zinc? Though I’m still not sure if I should have? Figuring out supplements is a pain.

They don’t. I’m pretty sure it started with a G. I guess I’ll find out when I get my script?
