Just organic ones on Amazon—nothing super special.

Has anyone tried this?

I have not and also I did not previously know there was more than one kind of hyaluronic acid. :eyes:

What are your favourite pore cleansing masks? I am having trouble finding hubner sillacea which is my best. I’m using a green detox mask from cocokind which helps, but not completely.

This Ordinary mask looks wacky (a bit like blood??) when you’re using it but it makes my face baby-soft.

I had to go off the pill and ever since, my skin is SO oily. I’m not breaking out, but it feels gross and greasy all the time. I am not sure how to fight wrinkles and grease at the same time? And I feel like the Ordinary squalane cleanser isn’t enough to sop up the grease. Yuck.

I do have the Ordinary azelaic acid and that seems to cut the grease some, but I worry that it will make my wrinkles worse, as I don’t think it does anything for anti aging?

I love this product!

If you figure out a way to cut the oil, let me know. Not sure one exists for me

Is it that you can’t clean the grease off of your face adequately, or that the grease builds through the day? Either way I think you’re looking at more moisture. Does your face ever feel shiny and tight?

For cleaning, I’d go two step - oil cleansing and then any of bar soap/liquid Castile, makeup face wipes, foaming face wash (but this might be too much for every day).

For moisturizer I’d make sure that you are using something rich enough but not too rich. For day, a lotion should work and touch ups with it as the oil builds in the day. It sounds weird, but especially wfh, if you are getting oily in the day, a lotion should help.

I also think that since you have a long history of really being unhappy with your skin, you could consider seeing a good esthetician who specializes in skin care in a few months. A treatment or two and a few visits to nail down exactly what you want and need. They are the pros for a reason. It’s also a reason I have good skin, but not rich people skin. My friends colleagues and patients who work with an esthetician (and increasingly naturopaths specializing in esthetics) have really gorgeous healthy skin.

How do you find a good one btw? I’m always so wary of the websites and stuff I see, and I don’t understand the credentialing

Talking to my rich patients :joy:
What I see from the aggregated information is that the really good ones are either independent with a small office or home office or work for really high end spas and medispas

I’d call the high end spas and medi spas and explain who you’re looking for (pretend you want annual treatments because I’m sure that’s lovely; and to nail down summer and winter skin care). I’d be open to buying their products but also ask for outside recs. If they are pedalling just one skin care line I’d be more suspicious than if they have their own or sell multiple.

Most people I know with amazing skin are on pretty simple routines once they find their hg products

Note to self: find some rich people :joy: actually wait, I bet some of the women in my (kinda) local moms group I met in prenatal yoga know people- I guess it makes sense to drive further for the assurance it’s someone good. Maybe I’ll ask the 45 year old with flawless skin :sob: if my ego can take it anyway :grimacing:

My oil builds throughout the day. I use gentle cleansers (currently trying this kale one) that don’t strip all natural oils–I don’t want to feel tight or dry afterwards. For moisturizers I’m rotating between Great Barrier Relief at night (I find it too thick for day time) and a Paula’s Choice with sunscreen during the day. I tried a two-step and broke out, but maybe that’s just the oil I was using? Definitely interested in seeing an esthetician at some point but, $$.

Those are both really light! And the dinethicone in the Paula’s choice can mask oiliness used sometimes, but can be really yucky used daily. A lot of people’s oil balance gets messy with cones.

Should I look for things without…cones? Lol I’m learning! The GBR looks super oily to me when I put it on, but I wake up with nice soft skin!

How does it look and feel after 5-10 minutes? Good or bad or you’re already gone for the day/asleep?

I am already asleep ideally haha. I can put it on a bit earlier tonight and see what happens.

Yes! Some products need time to sink in. But I love that you’re asleep that fast. I can only wish
