Is she looking solely for speculative fiction? And what does she mean by “represent”?
For looking for own voices that talk about religion, Chaim Potok is a likely candidate for Judaism.

I can ask a friend who is a children’s librarian.
I have no idea, but I’ll ask! Original context:
“omg Ash [illathrael] speaking of - I want to come up with a canon of children’s books/series for most major belief systems. I was talking about it with [sister and brother-in-law] the other day; Chronicles of Narnia for Christianity, His Dark Materials for secular humanism, do you know of (or know someone who would know of) one for judaism or islam?”
Child me did not understand that the lion was Jesus. When my parents became lapsed Catholics they lapsed hard.
Okay, so allegorical representations seem to be the focus then.
Hmm.
Child me didn’t either, but I definitely felt beaten over the head with it as an adult
Siddhartha for Buddhism? Not really aimed at kids but I read it as a teen Don’t remember it super well but I liked it.
I never read either of these - so hmmm…
I did realize Luke = Jesus in Star Wars…
Follow-up:
1 - not sure, yes if that narrows it down?
2 - very good question! Either containing (or as a whole) an allegory for that belief system, or just borrowing and alluding heavily to that belief system, such that it could introduce a child to these stories and themes which they would recognize if they later went and read the Torah or the Quran
I have ants! I’m planning on getting some bait style traps unless anyone here has better or other advice? I have a kitty so I’m afraid of using boric acid on its own and my kitchen is already spotless (yeah I’m bragging, I have ants, let me have this) and all our food is already in plastic or glass containers. It looks like they’re living in the wood under our sliding glass door if that makes any difference. Thanks forumers!
Are you sure they’re ants and not termites?
Can you seal the wood? Caulking and/ or paint?
@rural Hmm, I was…haha. I don’t see any wings on them, they just look like teeny tiny ants…I’ll inspect the next one I vanquish more closely.
@Smacky I was thinking about that because there is a crack, but my logic was that if I seal it and they’re all still inside…won’t they just carve out another exit and keep coming?
Are you not a fan of whack-a-mole?
You want to frustrate them so they take the path of least resistance, which takes them outside.
Hahaha, I guess that could be fun! Ok so maybe I’ll do both…
I used a combo of caulk and Terro traps when we moved in here - they’re boric acid based but unless your kitty is very playful and inquisitive there shouldn’t be a problem. (If he likes batting flat things and then rolling in spilled stuff, less good - I wouldn’t trust Tris or daffodil’s cats, but our floof is fine with them despite being very playful.)
Terrorism traps are cool. I like the ones with double sided tape to.sticl on the wall. Even my kitty ignores them
Terro traps have worked great for tiny ants in my house.
Big carpenter ants have needed traps outside and this time needed spray around the window where they were coming in
G Willow Wilson and SA Chakrobaty (spelling? She wrote city of brass) both come to mind for islam. It’s not the same as CS Lewis and Phillip Pullman, but Alif the Unseen in particular has some philosophical musing on the meanings and nature of the Quran.
And maybe the Golem and the Djinn for the relationship between Judaism and Islam? Again it’s not as allegorical as Narnia, but it’s fantasy historical fiction.
Thank you so much! I’ve passed on all recommendations from this thread (and added some titles to my to-read list!).
