This isn’t a question but these are some kind of cucumber I found in Iceland.
Advertised as lemon cucumber tomato.

Lemon cucumbers are a thing. I have some in my garden! I don’t know about “tomato” though.

Google seems uncertain that “tomatbag “ (or is that a ‘thorn’ rather than a ‘b’?) means tomato.
But lemon cucumbers are good and probably you can get them in Canada.

My theory is that the tomato is a nod to the shape/ size.
Lemon and cucumber are in English so I assume the tomato part has a typo on the end or something.

What is a flock camera? I’m seeing a lot of news stories about them getting destroyed and that sound fun but what are they in the first place? I looked it up and everything I found assumed I knew what they were and why they exist.

From what I understand they are surveillance cameras. Ostensibly for reading license plates tracking traffic violations and stuff. But in some places (?) the data is being used by ICE to track people’s whereabouts using their license plates.

Cameras put up by a private company that uses AI to “stop crime” and sells the data to law enforcement agencies. Some of their cameras have facial recognition ability and can pan/tilt/zoom. A warrant is not needed to search their information. Very, very, very Big Brother Is Watching You vibes.

Just to clarify, your city or at least your cities police department (without notifying the city council in my city’s case) pay them to put it up. It’s dystopian, but it’s not like they’re putting them up in public spaces by themselves.

Ah okay. A local article said X amount (fewer than 15) were requested by the local police department but there’s many, many more than that out there (over 100) so 
about what entity asked Flock to put them up.

That’s weird and scary
Although also, in Bangor (ME) people keep writing to the city council complaining about Flock cameras but it’s just normal private surveillance cameras and the sensors to help the traffic lights change. So people don’t necessarily understand what they look like in the wild.
Actually just checked the flock map and it shows flock cameras on it in Bangor, but the paper went and looked at them and they aren’t flock cameras, so that must be crowdsourced somehow

from what I can see, it makes it really easy for cops who are annoyed at their exes to look at their license plates across regions, not just city they are in. Or to track women they suspect of having an abortion Texas police used nationwide license plate reader network to track woman who had self-managed abortion | The Independent
normal stuff that we shouldn’t take as reasons to distrust whole groups of people with authority. They should also be given gloves that provide electric shocks, because that has never gone badly either.

I have read at least one article where the town had no idea there were Flock cameras about until citizens started asking questions. Or at least they claimed they had no idea.
