Well, yeah. A cat that does not want another cat up in their business would be a poor fit for our household. I know you can’t always tell with kittens but I would definitely discuss their cat-friendliness with the lady giving them away.
When I originally got my pair, the one thing the vet stressed was cat+1 litterboxes…I didn’t get 3, but I did have two, just to be safe. Although the cats themselves didn’t seem to care and just used whichever, I don’t know if that would make a difference if it was an addition (or kitten vs second cat, which might also matter). And when I tried two food bowls they’d go back and forth sampling so that was pretty pointless. But toys and trees and all of that were always shared.
Sometimes it’s the individual cats, though.
We were told that Roz loved other cats but wasn’t very interested in people, and she was crazy about Chuck.
She is not crazy about Isaac to say the least, and he is very submissive to her. Except he doesn’t like her on our bed, but is slowly coming to grips with it because her will is made of steel.
I was planning to have two litter boxes in the laundry room but have ended up with one in the laundry room and one in our bedroom which is not ideal, but certainly better than any kind of litter box dispute.
We had one litter box for a long time, and now we have two right next to each other. Our cats love each other so they share everything else (even a cat food tree puzzle, although they have their own bowls for food) but while you’re introducing them they need their own stuff. So we have two water stations and two litter boxes and it means you can change them both a little less often.
This hat gets advertised to me from time to time, and I generally pride myself in being able to read this font/similar fonts, but I have no idea what the hell this says – does anyone know?
Maybe Ruthlessness. Or maybe there’s no message ![]()
I need to get two suits dry cleaned. I have never used a dry cleaner before, is there anything I need to look out for, or can I basically just pick the one close to my house and it will be fine??
You can pick the closest one and it will be fine!
Check if they do it in house. Some here just send it to another dry cleaner which opens up more risk of loss or delay.
Also, double check that you have everything out of every pocket. It can be an issue.
Does anyone have a WealthFront referral code that you want to send me? I’m considering opening an account for the HYSA and getting the 3 month bonus (their normal HYSA is 3.3% and the bonus makes it 4.05% for 3 months). I have a code from a podcast I listen to but would be happy to help someone here if we decide to open an account.
I want a sweet potato/ground beef bowl that doesn’t taste like taco/chili. Any ideas of how to mix it up?
Ground beef larb? Chopped cashews and pickled veg and herbs if you have any
I tried to find out when they have changed their fluid. Dry cleaning fluid is not like laundry detergent. It gets used over and over and over until it’s determined it needs to be changed. At least that’s how it was in the 90s when I worked at a dry cleaner. Maybe things are different now! Things like wedding dresses took longer to get cleaned (we hold onto them longer) because we would always do them after a fresh fluid change.
Curried ground beef and then the sweet potato either as fries or in a coconut curry sauce? Messy but good.
Or even just a saucy/stew/gravy with thyme and scotch bonnet.
So… if not recent you’re dry cleaning your clothes in dirty fluid?? How recent would you recommend?
Hmm, I was thinking sweet potatoes roasted with cumin, cinnamon, garlic and other spices plus seasoned beef, chickpeas some greens and grain (quinoa? Barley?) - maybe even as a “salad”
It’s really hard to answer that because it depends on frequency of cycles and how dirty the things are that have been cleaned, etc. I don’t really remember the details because the 90s were a long time ago! It might be general breakdown of the fluid as well as yuckiness. I can’t really remember the specifics. I just know it was a big deal when it came to the wedding dresses!
Also, I don’t think most people worry about these things…. so maybe a reasonable person should chalk this up as something not to worry about. It’s kind of like working in a restaurant and seeing what actually happens and then either accepting the risks or choosing not to go out to eat! I bury my head in the sand and I go to restaurants, but when I worked in one I literally never ate there. Many home cooks don’t follow recommended safe protocols, but eating remains necessary!
We definitely don’t follow safe food storage protocols at home ![]()
