I use Google voice for outgoing calls but still have a regular phone number for incoming calls.
I haven’t moved my existing number, but do have a Google Voice number that I route all outgoing calls through and have given to family and friends as my primary phone number.
I have a google voice #, but my # from teenagedom is how most people know me. It’s on a mostly nonfunctional cell phone right now, and I’m paying $30 a month for them to keep the # active.
The airbnb I manage is always cold. It has electric baseboards for heat. They cost a fortune to run and don’t work very well.
What is a better way to heat a space?
Edit to add: whatever I use has to be hardwired. The electrical system can’t handle things being plugged in.
A friend who had the same system got it switched to an electric tile system? Ceramic tile? I dunno. She was in a tow house and her neighbour’s dad knew what to do. Ask your neighbour’s dad?
Any electric heating sucks, basically. And your climate is too cold for a heat pump to be effective I think. I dunno dude. Sorry.
Fire.
We have these in a few rooms: Save Money and Energy | Ducoterra they are very comfortable and don’t seem appalling to use. In a previous place we added line voltage programmable thermostats to our baseboards and that made a huge difference in comfort level and costs without even replacing the baseboards.
I have friends who just replaced their baseboards with a heat pump to great effect as well. They did a ducted heat pump which worked surprisingly well. We have a minisplit which I’m a big fan of but it just works for our one big open room.
That’s super helpful, thank you!
What is the best soap to clean a regular (acrylic?) shower and bathtub? I have used CLR Bath and Kitchen cleaner, a regular household cleaner (Berkley Green apparently), and a solution of half vinegar/half water and a tablespoon of dish soap. Still I have soap streaks in my shower and tub!
you’re welcome! LMK if you want to chat in more detail about any of these options. I love geeking out about this stuff. The ducoterra panels feel SO nice and warm. we have radiant floors in other rooms and the ceiling panels feel a lot cozier (and also didn’t break a year after the tile went in…)
The only thing I have found so far that works on built up soap scum but gentle enough for acrylic is baking soda, a wet stiff bristle scrub brush, and lots of elbow grease. Using a shower squeegee can help prevent the buildup.
A student wished me “Ramadan Mubarak.” I am not Muslim but wish to give a respectful reply- is “Khair Mubarak” appropriate? Or is there a more typical return response?
Anyone know of a way to receive a fax online?
Have not used it myself but there’s a bunch of services like this, I think FaxZero is another one:
Also in any other context this question “Anyone know of a way to receive a fax online?” would have made me assume you were a time traveler from the distant future who was really confused about technology in 2020.
Would you like your hip hop with fries or extra fleek? I’ll snapchat it all to your Nike Airs.
I’ve done more faxing in the last couple of weeks than in the last couple of years. Is weird., but mostly related to avoiding trips to town. In the pandemic.
Outbound faces are easier/more available online. I haven’t needed an inbound fax in 15-20 years.
I had to fax stuff constantly at the one public-sector job I had. It was crazy how many people demanded it even though it had nothing to do with compliance or privacy, lol. My first week someone had to teach my then 23 year old ass how to do it because I’d never actually seen a fax machine and I thought it was a printer with a phone built-in, which…it kind of is? LOL.
At work we recently had to add fax functionality to our voicemail software. Because apparently that’s a thing people need? I have still never used a fax machine though I did watch an explanatory video before we started work
You guys can laugh at me. I’ve just realized that we have a landline; that’s how we get our DSL. I also appear to have a fax modem inside my laptop. Perhaps all I need is to plug in the cord? To be continued.
Ooooh that would be fantastic!
