There might be a deal - 8 dems in the senate sided with the fascists early this week on a “compromise” bill that still leaves ACA supplements unsettled (for “later” talks), but it still has to pass the house. One dem said the shutdown was giving Trump too much power, e,g. refusing to pay SNAP benefits even though the USDA has an emergency fund.

I don’t pay a lot of attention (because of current government), so may be a bit off on details.

What @Gdogg said. The Senate passed a spending bill because 8 Democrats voted for it. It provides CR funding through January for most of the government and it includes full year funding for the agencies that are part of 3 of the 11 normal spending bills. USDA is included in the full year funding so SNAP will be funded for the full year. It also provides back pay for furloughed federal employees and reinstates the federal employees who were fired at the beginning of the shutdown.

The house is supposed to vote on it this afternoon and it’s expected to pass.

Thank you both!

If it still smells fine and you kept a duvet cover on it, the fill is probably in good shape. Down holds up well when it stays dry. A professional clean every few years is enough for most people, especially if the comforter gets regular airing. Taking it in once now would freshen it and reset the clock without risking damage from a home machine.

Ok for everyone who uses many washcloths (@diapasoun @ginja_ninja @Bracken_Joy , where do you put them afterwards? Usually mine are quite damp so I don’t want to throw them into a hamper where they will get gross until I wash them (every 7-10 days we get a towel load done).

So they end up sitting on the floor of my bathroom which is fancy and beautiful but small so they are in the way and an eye sore.

I’ve thought about hanging a mesh bag somewhere? Behind the bathroom door? But would love other ideas!

I usually hang them on the side of the tub/shower to dry, or hang them on the side of the hamper then the next day I swap it with the next one. I have a couple cheap plastic hampers and the washcloths get their own so they stay separate, too

This is what I do – edge of tub until it dries, then into the laundry hamper. Mine get soaked through (I use a cream cleanser so the whole washcloth gets run under hot water and used to wipe the cleanser off).

I see …I don’t have a tub in that room, just a shower. And I usually pull all the towels off hooks to wash, if they get into a regular clothes hamper that won’t work for my family washing system haha. Maybe I need a dedicated washcloths hamper.

Would a hook for your wet washcloth work? I feel like there’s something nice about letting a washcloth have its own hook haha. That’s what I plan on doing once my bathroom gets its glowup.

Do the washcloths need to be washed with the towels or could they be washed with other things? (Everything just gets washed on cold in my house, with delicates coming out before the dryer, so I am not particularly sophisticated on these points.) If you want them to stay with the towels in particular, then a lil basket that sits under the hook where you drop the dry used washcloths could be helpful?

Mine get thrown straight into the washing machine, draped across the agitator so they drip dry. As you can probably tell, I have a top loader, so the sour smell that I hear front loaders can get isn’t an issue. Then whenever I do the next load of whatever, they get washed along with. I also wash everything on cold, so nothing dies this way.

Our many washcloths are in the kitchen, the laundry room is steps away and a basket of random laundry lives on top of the drier. The kitchen washcloths get tossed in there and will dry out if they’re not already dry - like I go to use a washcloth and then go “Oh no, you’re not worthy” then it gets tossed and a fresh one is pulled out of the drawer.

This is a great question. My only solution has been to walk the dripping-wet cloths across the house to throw them into our top-loading washer. From the kitchen it’s only a few steps. From either bathroom it’s a lot more steps…

I hang it on a towel rack, or over the edge of the sink to dry. Worst case, I use a hanger with a clip to act like a temporary clothesline.

I wash my face at night and drape the washcloth over the faucet to dry then toss it in that hamper the next morning.

Like this on the inside of the shower curtain:

By the next day it’s dry and can go in the laundry basket.

What do people use to clean the dark gunk out of their front load washers? This is something I should do and have not tackled yet. I would like to get it sparkling, and also inside the liner where little things go to hide. I have used afresh but that does not tackle it.

Omg me too! There are so many options! And somehow I feel like none of them will work for me haha so keep it coming .

My laundry machine is in the garage and my bathroom is upstairs. We have exactly as many towel hooks as we need and no towel racks. My spouse uses the sink after me most nights so I don’t think I can hang it over the sink faucet to dry, and it’s a shower with a glass door,l and no tub so no curtain rod or tub side to take advantage of.

@diapasoun I’ve had acne problems all my life so I do like to wash towels and wash clothes on hot to get them really extra clean before using them on my face.

Maybe I can find a special washcloth drying hook location to add another hook…

I do feel better that this feels like a hard problem to solve!

I hang mine on the edge of the laundry basket! Also sometimes they just live on the floor lol

What about the door handle of the glass shower? Or the handles of the shower water turny-on and temperature thing? (Idk the name and genuinely tried for a minute, this is my cue for bedtime lol)

What about an adhesive hook inside the shower? I sometimes hang mine to dry on the edge of my shelf that holds all my shower products
