Frozen yogurt is a delectable dessert for healthy people. Ice cream is what the rest of us eat. They are nothing alike.
The frozen yogurt I’ve had had been soft serve, but not the same as soft serve ice cream. I like both of them, but haven’t seen fro yo around in a while.
And neither of them is necessarily vegan.
And I don’t know that frozen yogurt is all that “healthy”, either.
Oh I’m sure it isn’t. It just deceives people.
I like my trash honest.
Does anyone remember TCBY from waaaayyy back in the day? Like maybe early 90’s? I think it was probably the first really accessible froyo and had the toppings bar and it was delicious. I never see froyo any more. I eat my fair share of ice cream though!
Yes! And Red Mango not long after
I don’t know Red Mango, but it’s a small town here.
It might have only been a Midwestern burbs thing? Idk
There are still a couple froyo places in my city with all the toppings!
Pinkberry was all the rage here for a long time, which may have been similar to red mango?
Yes! The same except in name haha
Color + fruit = trendy froyo
I remember being able to buy tubs of frozen yogurt in the grocery store!
We still buy frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. My husband will eat it either way and frozen yogurt seems to upset my stomach less than ice cream.
I loved TCBY! I remember getting frozen yogurt from there with crumbled Kudos granola bars on top which was peak 1988. I worked at a similar frozen yogurt shop in high school and can still make a good looking cone. Sometimes resorts or cruises will have a self-service machine and I get to show off my skills.
I actually prefer frozen yogurt to soft serve ice cream.
I was heartbroken when our last froyo place closed a few years ago. The end of an era
We have frozen yogurt places called Sweet Frog.We did have a TCBY that closed a few years ago though.
I must live in a weird place? We still have like 5 froyo pick your own toppings places in my small city/large town.
I went through a major Pinkberry/make your own fro-yo bowl phase from late high school to my mid 20s. I lived next to a fro-yo place for a year in college and went there almost every day This conversation is making me realize I haven’t been to one in years! Also, I haven’t seen one either, so I feel like they all closed?
This conversation prompted me to look, and all the locations I went to growing up and in grad school have closed! Huh.
