just as an FYI:
@BiblioFeroz also started a thread on this
I think if he opens up the conversation people are going to jump all over him, and he can’t have a conversation so he’s effectively shutting down the forum and making up a fake reason for it.
It appears that the landing page has been updated, you can now click “I agree,” and get into the forums.
I was not asked to make a payment
The message mentioned the fee as a way to prevent spam accounts, so I bet existing accounts are grandfathered in without needing to pay.
I do not personally have any issue with the updated terms.
I am back in now too. Thanks everyone!
Ideas for keeping tiny ants out of cat food? The cats graze on dry food throughout the day and we’ve been putting the bowls inside a larger bowl with a water moat to keep out ants, which does work but they push a ton of food into the water so the bowls have to be cleaned out every day and are just generally gross so I would love another method. The ants were previously a huge problem in the kitchen but that’s now under control so the cat food is the one thing now that still attracts a lot of ants
Is there a good website I can use to figure out wtf my MiL saw online that prompts her latest bit of conservative worries?
This question brought to you by a panicked text message about looting and rioting in NYC’s upper east side.
Can you put the food bowls on top of a counter for a bit instead of on the ground? Until the ants become uninterested/move on?
I really enjoyed this as read in response to Marcela’s question. This is my useless contribution to everyone’s random questions. I will see myself out.
When I lived in a house with an unkillable ant infestation, I too had to moat things. My suggestion - cat bowl on top of a small plate in a pie plate or jelly roll pan containing the water moat.
Do they eat wet food faster than dry? In my experience, a lot of animals will eat their wet food and one sitting as more of a meal, but nibble on kibble. Could the situation be entirely avoided by switching to meals of wet food instead?
Favorite ways to turn a small piece of embroidery (like 5-6 inches) into something that can be hung on a wall? Cheaper and easier is better.
I usually leave it in the hoop, trim the fabric into a circle and cinch it up in the back. Can hang the hoop on a nail.
Do you decorate the hoop at all? This one is for a gift.
We have a few small pieces (3-4 inches) that are just framed and put up somewhere.
I’ve seen pictures where they glued lace on the hoop. It looks really cute.
I love matting small things into really big frames.
Embroidery is hard to frame because it’s too thick for a regular frame.
I have embroidery in shadow box frames
I’ve also seen it just presented in hoop and it looked nice, no need to decorate the hoop
I don’t decorate the hoop, but my hoops are wood. So they kind of act like a frame. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll finish the back with fabric so the threads aren’t visible from the back. It’s kind of hard to explain in writing, but I found this that shows it 4 ways to finish the back of embroidery hoops — Embellished Elephant
