No, I’m in the midst of trying to find more things for my bored dh to do. He really never did very much besides work (which was interesting!) and while he had some vague ideas of things he would like to do, mostly he didn’t like them all that much in reality. LOL
So I’m always on the lookout for things he might want to do without ME, because I’m not bored.
He has started on the Master Gardener track. He did all the online coursework this fall, and I think this spring he can start his volunteer hours.
We always buy the oven mitts with the silicone grip parts and I think I use them more to open things than I do for getting hot things.
For opening a tab, I will often use a fork. Tines under the edge of the tab and then easy leverage to pop open. Plus no need to buy and get out another thing.
I will surround my writing pen with others and hair elastic them together with the writing one sticking out more than the others for good grip.
Both DH and I have been involved with a small gallery. Trying to keep a nonprofit alive, get the community engaged, looking for grants, etc. can be a long and involved process. Does he have an area of interest where volunteering might help?
We also volunteered at an indy radio station for a while. He worked on computer issues and I did data entry and filing. Also a nonprofit, community business.
Let’s say you are a bigot, and you write some good books that turn into movies, and produce some of those movies, and those movies have excellent festive wintery soundtracks
My winter go-tos are butternut squash and zucchini basil soups…I know my recipe uses garlic and onion, but they aren’t major ingredients and I suspect you could leave them out without a major taste change.
Option 1 - carrot, zuke, potato, turmeric, salt, black pepper (?), stock, puree, add grated cheddar, drizzle with sour cream?
Option 2 - roast butternut squash, puree, salt, stock, coconut milk, fish sauce, lime juice, a bit of sugar to taste, maybe peanut butter? Probably play with some penzey spice blends if I had them.
Basically if I need high calorie soup I go cheese or coconut milk. They both also work with pureed roast cauliflower/broccoli.
Other ideas - french pea soup with cheese? Not sure if you could do bacon, depends on the level of puree, but using the fat might be another alternative?
Coconut curried butternut squash
Carrot ginger soup
Egg drop soup / egg flower soup (the egg should be small enough to not need chewing)
Broccoli cheddar soup
Cream of spinach soup
I don’t know how much texture your mouth can handle but avgolemono (Greek lemon chicken/tvp rice soup) can be cooked down very soft and then blended, and is very hearty.
You can wipe them/wash them off, and then apply neem oil to keep them away. But even if it takes a few days to acquire neem oil, you can still start by washing them off. Even soap and water will help.
