What are the cloth covers for? If it’s for extra protection I don’t have any suggestions except etsy/amazon, but if you’re just using them to identify different kids’ masks day-to-day, can you just get a pack of stickers and let them decorate?

They’re for me to put over my mask in hopes that the cuteness will deflect some of the anti-science pro-death harassment I’ll get from parents (and maybe kids) for taking basic precautions. (Sorry, I may be a bit conflicted about this.)

No worries, silly me for thinking kids would be masked (where is that head-banging-on-desk emoji again?). In that case I’m back to etsy, sorry.

If you don’t need them for protective purposes, Threadless was selling some cute designs:

Including book themed ones!

They’re kinda pricey though.

All of my cloth ones came from various crafty friends :woman_shrugging:

Do they fit well over N95s though?

I wear pleated-type cloth masks over N95 to keep them cleaner, and since it doesn’t have to fit perfectly since that’s not the point, I would think that most would work? As long as they are big enough (ie the shape shouldn’t matter much)… :woman_shrugging:

If buying from Etsy or whatnot I’d just message the person and ask I guess.

I feel like my actual answers don’t fit well, partly because it was a Different Time…

We got married at 23yo and bought a house when we were 42? We were in grad school and then dh was a post doc and we had 3 kids, so mostly we were just squeaking by, but we did have a pretty good savings account. And dh’s parents gave us some $ because they had given his brother some, IIRC?

We bought a cheap house and we couldn’t really afford it at first, so it was stressful, but we lived there long enough to pay it off, so I guess it worked out.

I think I’m mostly not concerned if a cloth mask doesn’t fit perfectly over an N95 as long as it doesn’t dislodge it. For my purposes, this is decorative.

I found some options to make custom ones on Amazon for $4.95, so I may do that. I need funny sayings, though. Figuring it out. I may go back through the meme thread.

Or maybe I’ll just spend too much on masks from Threadless! Those are nice.

Or I’ll get this box of disposables and be done with it.

Ok smart people, I am sure this has been asked and answered before, but I can’t find it. I need containers of various sizes for not a king’s ransom. I think it has been suggested in the past online restaurant supply stores. Any suggestions? My primary need is for the dog and cat food, because I am tired of having to decant small amounts and have to re-tape up the bags every single week (because they don’t self close). I’d really like them to be square or rectangular as well.

Aaaaaaaand go!

I bought a cereal container with a flip top lid for my cat’s dry food. It isn’t heavy and I don’t spill it.

I will do this for the daily use quantities, but I need large containers for the big bags. The cat food bag is 12 lbs and the dog food bag is 26 lbs, they are very large.

If you write a Facebook review of a business, it is public, correct?
Does it also show up in your friends’ newsfeeds?

We got a big glass jar with a lid from Target years ago. It holds not quite an entire 10-lb bag of dry cat food. They may have had even bigger ones, I’m not sure.

Yes! There might be settings to prevent it from showing up (I don’t trust them but you might be higher trust than me), but I have seen reviews friends have written in my newsfeed.

That’s what I thought, thanks for confirming.
A Google review might be a better option, then (also public but not in people’s faces.)

This is so dumb… basically I want ONE friend to not see the review because I sort of told a white lie regarding it. Long boring story, basically she offered to do a Thing for me but she’s flaky so I paid for someone to do it instead, but instead told her another friend was doing it for free. Because I didn’t want to have the “I like you but you’re flaky and I don’t trust you” conversation. And now we’re moving and I DO want to review this business before we move

Business is not on Yelp, so options are Facebook, Google, and Nextdoor (the latter of which Friend will DEFINITELY see as she’s active there).

We get Costco sized dog food and store it (still in the bag) in a lidded plastic trash can. It’s not an airtight lid, but we’ve not had a problem with it going stale.

My pet food is stored in Rubbermaid bins. Not pretty, but who cares? Cheap and very sturdy.

Maybe you already have your answer…
I squirrel away big containers that I buy other things like. I used to use Perpetuem in the big containers and I have a couple from protein powders. For a while I could get coconut oil in big containers.
If you are comfortable with it, I think those buckets that cat litter come in could be washed out and used as well (after all, it holds the litter before the cat uses it).
I might be too cheap for my own good though.

I use a plastic garbage can and put the whole kibble bag in it.

I don’t want to eff up your graph too much, but household income ranged from $30-$54K, and even saving 20-50% of my income for 5 years and having access to a IDA (matched savings account where they give me up to $6000 towards the down payment), I haven’t gotten to a 20% range yet for a downpayment on a 1bedroom condo in my city. yes, this is just me whining about my housing market so it’s not helpful.
