You are the calathea whisperer!
I have the spider plant baby problem, only with aloe vera. I’ve been in charge of my husband’s late grandmother’s plant for at least ten years now (must be more, she’s been gone longer than that). Can’t count the number of babies I’ve given away. Need to repot the (5 pig pots full) I have now, but I don’t know what I would do with the extras. There are dozens.
It’s like if Amish friendship bread was a photosynthesizer. Sympathies.
We spent $240 for a king size Lucid in 2017, it’s still going great.
And we liked it enough that we bought the kids twin size lucid’s.
I don’t know that brand particularly, but it’s probably a fine idea.
Thanks all! We scored a free Purple bed. Wooo
how?! That’s awesome.
Family member has one that they don’t want.
Science/skincare people, does this ingredient list look ok to you or is there bad shit in it? :

Thanks!
I’m team avoid fragrance.
Do you have anything in particular you are trying to avoid? I admit I don’t understand why parabens are supposed to be bad for you, and people getting upset about sulfates confuse me because I think surfactants are basically the same, but I’m pretty good at googling!
@Bracken_Joy Is that just preference or is it bad for you?
@darlingpants I don’t really know? Haha, that’s probably part of the problem. I just don’t feel like researching it, lol, but I’m trying to get less terrible stuff.
I didn’t look up everything in the list but it looks like: water, soaps (different kinds of surfactants), essential oils (which are potentially the harshest thing in there even though they’re “natural”), some acids/wound healing/exfoliating/moisturizing things. And smells.
Thank you! Excellent translating. Are essential oils not good for your skin?! I’m surprised those are harsh.
Hyram recommends avoiding fragrance due to the risk of skin sensitivity. I avoid it because of parabens. endocrine disrupters. I already have an incredibly high base line risk of breast cancer, not to mention the infertility, so I try to avoid any known substances that are problems for gestures broadly hormones and all those cycles.
ETA my big issue is fragrance doesn’t have to be specifically disclosed, so there’s quite a bit you can stuff under that label. If the brand discloses fragrance derivation, I’m less concerned, but when it’s just “fragrance” that’s too vague for my comfort.
Good to know, thank you! What do you use?
Essential oils can cause chemical burns if they’re not diluted enough and can be toxic to humans and animals (pets are sensitive to different ones that humans so sometimes essential oils diffuses can make them really sick). You’re essentially taking an active part of a plant and concentrating it intensely, so anything that’s irritating or toxic (a lot of plants try to make toxins so they don’t get eaten) gets super high concentration.
Like tea tree oil is really helpful in cosmetics, but if you put full strength directly on your skin it can burn you.
Woah! That’s intense.
It is! And it’s not well known because brands advertise “natural” as “safe” ignoring the fact that plants have been trying to kill their predators with poison since forever!
This is a face wash I assume? Given the surfactants? I use a vitamin C cream wash, I’ll go get the name. I oil wash with apricot kernel oil first, then do the face wash. pause for bedtime routine
Oh sorry this is for a body wash! I had a science friend help me pick face stuff, haha. I just don’t want to bug her right now because she’s dealing with some shit.
