a neighbour posts on our street’s facebook group when people have a package delivered to their porch. e.g. “33 you have a package” was put up an hour ago. this feels weird, like they are watching the street all the time, which means they are watching us all the time. question: is this just me?

It’s weird as hell. If they’re that concerned about porch theft alert they can ring the houses doorbell because the delivery drivers usually don’t. Also prime attention for someone who wants a surprise to swing by 33

That is very weird.

Actually, if I were you I’d walk right over and grab that package. After 5 pm or so walk it back, ring the doorbell and say other neighbor was acting shady about it and you wanted to make sure it was delivered to them safely. Watch and wait to see if anything happens on FB. Of course, if you’re willing to be the neighborhood shit-stirrer.

Unless I knew 33 and could text them I was doing this, I would not do that, less the cops be called that I’m stealing packages.

Context depends, but in my urban area the cops will not care at all unless you’re reporting breaking and entering.

Soap scum chemistry perhaps?

Generic drain cleaners usually do nothing on bathroom drains for me. I get ones specifically labeled for hair clogs, because that’s usually the issue

I like to think that our similarly aged fits are going to last us awhile longer. I don’t think we have as many miles on ours but I’m in it so rarely I have no idea. I think the Tesla Model Y looks amazing but not sure I can stand to give money to Tesla so I’m hoping more vehicles like it come out before we need something new. The Fit and the Mazda 5 are both on my list too! My husband was very down on the Mazda5 until we started thinking about whether we needed a bigger car to hold our dog and two kids (then I miscarried and we found a seatbelt thing for the dog that keeps her safe without taking up two seats so I think we’re good on the fit a lot longer), but he started to see the appeal of the Mazda 5.

AANNND now I’m looking at the cargo configurations of the Chevy Bolt for no good reason at all whatsoever.

I don’t think I’m willing to be enough of a shit disturber

I could see my husband doing something like that. He wouldn’t see it as weird, he’d see it as being helpful. Many people are working from home these days so I imagine they see what’s going on on the street. I notice all the delivery trucks that come to my neighbor’s across from me, not because I’m trying to look but just because I have a big window and I see what goes past it. (We also live on a dead end street so not a lot goes by. They come down, do their delivery, and then turn around and go back up. So I see them twice, I guess.)

I cook with tofu about once a decade but bought some silken tofu recently to put into miso soup (in hind sight I probably should’ve done firm?) The package says to use within five days of opening, do I really need to use it within five days or can I push it out to more like seven or more days? Also will silken tofu be too mushy for a stir fry and if so what else can I do to use it up?

It gets weird when it turns, the colour gets yellowish and there is slime. It’s pretty obvious.
Silken tofu is gross in most things. It’s fine in smoothies. My aunt once made very good tofu peanut butter tarts, and I’ve had silken tofu pudding that was good.
Many types of asian cuisine make excellent use of it, but I have never successfully cooked with it.

I’ve eaten good chocolate pudding made with silken tofu but I have no idea what the recipe was.

Foist it on the child while it’s still good, then, got it. He’ll be pleased to get a smoothie. I also have strawberries that need to be used up.

I bought the Encore. Thanks to everyone for answering all my questions. I feel good buying from a locally owned business and the salesman is “3 degrees of separation” from me so I feel good supporting him too.

Hope it serves you well!

Is anyone familiar with the Swytch or other ebike conversion kits? I saw an ad for the Swytch and signed up for updates because apparently I can’t give up on the ebike concept. It says it works on any bike but I’m kind of skeptical it will work for my heavy Dutch-style bike (Electra Townie).
