I even tried various attempts to google it and just got a bunch of academic papers about corporate personhood lol.
I’ve googled it every which way because it annoys me to not know what it means lol. It’s literally my neighbor across the street, so I see it all the time.
This reminds me of in college when fracking/anti-fracking was part of the activist discourse but not the general public discourse and signs popped up all around town with the word “Frack” with the cancel sign over it. And one of our friends nicknames was Frack. We were so confused.
I also tried googling it. No luck. It is arcane.
Or completely made up. Anyone can print a sign.
My guess would be that they are all united together against masks and other impositions on their freedoms that they mistakenly think are constitutionally protected.
I had a neighbor that had a very weird sign around election time about unity that I eventually realized was supposed to be a “Yay, with Biden we now can unite our nation!” but oof was it a stretch on the language (that I don’t recall anymore).
Putting the word “constitutionally” to modify standing united (as a split!) is a doozy.
Plus, this sign is like someone trying to troll a legal search algorithm. The word “standing” is a legal term. And the most famous/recent/important case on corporate (business) personhood (which includes standing) is Citizens United. So…businesses + standing + United…
Could you ask them?
I’ve never actually met him, so probably not the best way to introduce myself if he’s against masking and all. I could walk up to his door wearing a mask though… Lol
Thank you! Right or wrong, what you say makes sense.
When do the new model year cars come out? Are 2021 out now? Soon? I’m going to get something new to me this spring or summer, and assume that 2019 and 2020 models get cheaper after 2021 come out?
2021 models would have come out August /September of 2020. They always come out the early.
So price is the same now as it will be in summer? But will be cheaper if I wait until like October?
I am pretty sure there are “specials” on both 2020s and 2021s now. I am not sure how 2020s will be priced when the 2022s are out Fall 2021.
Between my husband and I we have bought a total of three cars (new) mid/late 90s through early 2010’s and each time we bought a brand new car where it was the last model year of a body style; maybe check if any cars you are interested in have had that type of change between model year 20 and 21 or will between 21 and 22. Apparently that can mean an opportunity for a better deal than just a model year (but not overhaul of body style) changing from one year to the next. In each case we got more than 20% off of the sticker price. I didn’t know if that still held true these days, but then a friend just purchased a new vehicle with a changing body style, and also got at least 20% off. In our case we were purchasing a small or midsize vehicles whereas our friend’s new purchase was on a fancy SUV.
Oops reply went to wrong person and I don’t think I can fix it
Aside from charity, what is something I can spend stimulus money on to improve my quality of life, even temporarily?
I recommend getting puppies, but our solution may not work for everyone.
Ideas:
- nice coffee or spices or tea. Something consumable but that will last a few weeks or months
- I bought new running shoes and sandals
- New bedding or pillows
- In a similar vein, pick one thing about your house or wardrobe that is annoying or itchy or starting to fall apart and splurge to fix it
- If you’re willing to wait a few months or are already vaccinated, massage or spa
- A piece of art
good knife, frying pan, spatula (I am still enamoured of the thin ‘jar’ spatula I got with a gift card at Christmas)
new socks/underwear
bike tune-up
I bought new knives with my last stimulus and had no idea how bad mine were. Cooking is so easy now!
House cleaner or landscaping (spring clean up) help?
Streaming service (Disney, Hulu, paramount, etc.)?
Amazon Prime membership?
Food subscription?
Museum, science center, zoo membership?
Household annoyances: window screens have holes? Replace. Old mattress? Replace. Been a while since your HVAC was serviced, or you need better lighting or shelves in your garage, or life would be much easier with a chest freezer or large storage bins that are see through.
Or holidays- have you always really wanted a flocked reusable Christmas tree? Do you love 4th of July but your grill is rusting away to nothingness?
Or child- clothes for the next sizes up, the next seasons outdoor gear, more books, new shoes.
Or struggling family- honestly, I have bought things for people just so they don’t complain to me anymore my moms kindle always was having issues and I was so sick of hearing about it, I got her one. This type of behavior gets you praise AND leads to a substantial lessening of annoying interactions
